About this property

This idyllic property offers distant and far-reaching sea views, in a residential area of the small coastal village of Southerness in the Dumfries & Galloway region of Scotland. Sandpiper is a charming bungalow for a couple, pair of couples or small group of four wanting to enjoy a coastal getaway to the Scottish Riviera. There is off-road parking available for two cars and you can enter the front garden through the pretty blue picket fence, up the paved pathway, past lots of pretty plants and a water feature, with a decking area in the corner and a bench to sit out and admire the distant sea view. Step inside the property to find a compact but bright and airy kitchen, with a fridge/freezer, microwave and electric oven and hob, for you to prepare delicious meals and views of the sea in the distance to admire while you tackle the washing up. Enjoy dining together at the dining table, set for four, and making plans for the days ahead, while the seating area offers a choice of two cosy sofas, to rest on and enjoy watching the Smart TV while the electric fire fills the room with warmth. The sunroom offers a quieter seating alternative, where you can admire views of the garden and the sea beyond or enjoy getting lost in a good book. The property offers two double bedrooms (1 standard and 1 small), colourfully presented with lovely artwork on the walls, each with a TV and wardrobe, while one bedroom offers sea views and the other looks out onto the pretty garden, and they are both served by the family bathroom which has a bath with shower over, so the choice is yours when it comes to getting ready for each day. Access the rear garden via the sunroom, another enclosed, pretty garden that is part gravel, part charming paved pathway and offering a choice of outdoor seating, so you can enjoy a glass of wine or an alfresco meal while enjoying your coastal setting. The centre of Southerness village is a short walk away, offering two convenience stores and a handful of pubs and restaurants. There is also a championship golf course, enjoying panoramic views of Sloway Firth, as well as a swimming pool and two miles of sandy beaches with sand dunes and rock pools to explore. Southerness rests on a stretch of coastline affectionately known as the Scottish Riviera, overlooking the Solway Firth and with lovely warm waters, heated by the Gulf Stream. There is also a lighthouse, built in 1748 and thought to be one of the oldest in Scotland, which is worth a visit. Enjoy a hike up Criffel Hill, which sits at 569m tall and offers lovely views of the Nith Estuary and surrounding farmland below and explore the wetland and saltmarshes of the RSPB Mersehead nature reserve. Venture to the town of Dalbattie, in a picturesque wooded valley on the Urr Water, where you can explore its national forest, stroll or cycle around the pretty Plantain Loch and discover the Dalbeattie Museum Trust. Further afield, you can reach Dumfries and Castle Douglas, as well as the stunning parkland of the Galloway Forest Park, fantastic for exploring on foot or bicycle. With so much to see and do on your doorstep, make Sandpiper the base for your next Scottish adventure.

Very clean and well equipped. Outside area is lovely for relaxing and was a safe, secure space for our dog (spaniel). Beach is less than 2 minutes walk away. JJ's fish and chip shop was lovely and inexpensive. Local pubs were nice for a drink in the beer gardens (all dog friendly). Would definitely recommend.
