Guests appreciate the cleanliness, comfort, and welcoming community atmosphere, with many highlighting the property’s suitability for families, dog owners, and those with disabilities. While a few minor maintenance and accessibility issues were noted, and occasional cleaning concerns mentioned, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Most guests found the property very clean and well-presented, with only a few isolated reports of cleaning oversights (e.g., bathroom cleanliness, bird droppings at the entrance, and a strong bleach smell on one occasion). The majority of reviews describe the accommodation as spotless and comfortable.

The location is consistently praised for its tranquillity, proximity to forest trails, Loch Trool, and the wider Dumfries & Galloway region. Guests love the peaceful village setting and easy access to nature, making it a perfect spot for walking, cycling, and exploring.

Guests frequently mention the comfort of the accommodation, including spacious rooms, cosy atmosphere, and suitability for those with disabilities. Some noted the sofa bed could be improved, but overall comfort levels are high and the property is described as relaxing and homely.

The property is well-equipped with kitchen essentials, accessible features, and thoughtful touches for families and dog owners. Minor suggestions for improvement include more mugs, oven gloves, and some bathroom and accessibility enhancements. Facilities are generally modern and well-maintained.

Guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as a dog bed, high chair, and travel cot set up on arrival, as well as clear instructions and responsive communication. While these gestures are valued, please note that such items or gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

Located within the Galloway Forest Park (Britain's first nominated Dark Sky Park) in the small, tranquil village of Glentrool, surrounded by nature, with direct access to surrounding hills, ancient woodland, forest trails and Loch Trool. The Coorie, operated by the local community trust for the benefit of the community, provides modern bright, spacious accommodation for up to 5 guests who enjoy getting away from it all and enjoy the great outdoors. On a clear night the star-gazing, and feeling of remoteness, is truly breath-taking. The Coorie offers excellent opportunities for walking, cycling, fishing and exploring our night skies along with all that this unspoilt area of Scotland has to offer. The Gaelic word Coorie means to nestle or snuggle but has more recently taken on a different meaning, evolving from its origin to a lifestyle trend, the Scottish equivalent of the Danish Hygge, of appreciating Scotland’s beauty and what it has to offer.

The Galloway Forest Park forms part of the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere, and is a firm favourite of hill walkers and mountain bikers with internationally recognised biking trails amidst some of the most dramatic scenery in the south of Scotland. There is a wealth of wildlife, such as red and roe deer in the forest and hills, while wild goats thrive on the rocky outcrops. Opportunities abound to explore the waymarked trails, cycle routes and picnic areas by bike or on foot amidst the highest hills of South Scotland. Glentrool Visitor Centre is the gateway to the Galloway hills, where you can pick up maps and information on the hill ranges. The Merrick, South Scotland's highest peak at nearly 2,800ft can be climbed from Bruce's Stone, which can be found overlooking Loch Trool. This huge granite boulder commemorates Robert the Bruce’s first victory over the English in 1307 during the Scottish Wars of Independence.

Newton Stewart is within a 10 minute drive, and offers all the facilities you would expect of a small rural town including a selection of Independent shops, Supermarkets, Pubs and Eateries, a Cinema, an 18 hole parkland Golf Course and The Merrick Centre which offers leisure facilities including a 25 metre swimming pool with spa & sauna, Fitness Suite and 3 court Sports Hall.

The location was ideal and the accommodation was spacious and bright. Couple of minor issues - the accommodation is attached to the hub/ community centre and the connecting door was wide open. We found the key in the back of the door so were able to lock it. The welcome book hadn't been returned, so couldn't log on to the internet initially or access the information in it. This was sorted within a short space of time. When we were using the oven, there wasn't any tea towels so had to carefully use paper towels to get the oven trays out of the oven. This was sorted later in the evening, after we'd returned from our day out. It's suitable for wheelchair users as the bathroom is a wet room with plenty of hand rails for the shower and toilet. A couple of issues in the bathroom being there's only a small hand-wash basin (without a plug). Really need a suitable sink installing. Another issue, for me, as there wasn't a lid on the toilet, a stool would be useful. Also, a proper shelf or similar, in the shower for toiletries etc. I also thought that the microwave was in the wrong place and maybe the entrance between the living area and the kitchen couple be made slightly smaller and the kitchen wall/ counter top be extended enough for the microwave to go there. Regardless of this, we enjoyed our stay there and would definitely book again and would recommend it to others.

When my partner myself and 2 daughterrs arrived on Friday afternoon after a 4 hour drive. When we got to the disability friendly accommodation, we were greeted with a big mound of bird poo on the handrail leading up to the property door. Unlocked the door and went in to be greeted with the stench of bleach. My partner, who is allergic to bleach, could only be in the property for a few minutes before getting headaches and coughing due to the bleach getting on her chest. Spoke to the owner on the phone. She sent someone round to try to help, but they were unable to. I had already opened all the doors and windows, and the stench was still as strong through the property. I advised that we weren't able to stay there with and the lady agreed . Said we would be refunded and compensated as it was unacceptable. A gentleman came in and agreed it wasn't acceptable and shouldn't have happened. It was as though the cleaners used a full bottle of bleach. There were no other properties in the area for us to stay at. The food we had picked up from sainsburys in Newton Stewart had to be thrown away as it was chilled and wouldn't last the journey home. Have been refunded but no sign of any compensation and almost impossible to get hold of the owner to deal with this even 2 weeks later. My partner was unwell for the next week due to her reaction to the bleach
