No smoking.. This charming semi-detached cottage is situated in a quiet location with woodland walks being available direct from the door but is also within walking distance to the town of Newton Stewart with shops, cafés and restaurants. The location is very popular with walkers and cyclists with Glentrool, Kirroughtree and the 7Stanes mountain bike trails nearby, as well as a great choice of golf courses.

Situated on the edge of The Galloway Forest and Dark Sky Park, the cottage is ideally placed to explore the beauty of south west Scotland. There is an abundance of fishing, bird watching, beautiful and exotic gardens, many rocky coves, sandy beaches and quaint villages to explore along the Machars Peninsula. The towns of Castle Douglas, Scotland’s food town and Kirkcudbright, the artists town, with shops, galleries, cafés and restaurants are all within easy reach. Beach 8 miles. Pub and restaurant 1 mile.

    The cottage was clean and comfortable. The bathroom and shower room are relatively new and in excellent working order. The lounge is comfortably furnished and spacious with a large coffee table. The Internet provision is via BT and there was no issues with connectivity. Very fast broadband. The kitchen was nicely laid out with all the essential appliances - hob, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and hot water boiler (domestic and central heating). Washing Machine, Crockery and Cutlery provision is modern and up to date. The TV in the lounge is functional and I would recommend it needs to be updated to Smart TV to enable the use of Apps such as BBC iPlayer, ITV X and having the ability to access other apps that we would have access to. TV programmes were limited to the main channels via a Sky Box.Bedding and Towels are provided in abundance.The owner is cooperative, friendly and helpful and was on hand to address any minor issues, not that we encountered any during our stay.A very small note, outside of the control of the owner, is that the access road is uneven in places. Parking space is excellent.

    Although our local contact responded very quickly to any queries, it would have been preferable if there was a folder containing instructions on the various pieces of equipment in the house..an improved wifi, the quality of the signal was poor.
