Guests consistently note the property's spotless condition and high standard of cleanliness, with no traces of previous pet stays, which contributes to a welcoming and comfortable environment.

The cottage is appreciated for its quiet cul-de-sac setting with easy access to beaches and local amenities like pubs and shops, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and convenience.

While the property is generally well-equipped with modern appliances and a secure garden, some guests experienced difficulties with the heating and hot water systems, and suggested improvements such as shelving in the bathroom and an outside tap.

There are positive comments about the owners' welcome book and the provision of a dog throw for furniture, indicating thoughtfulness. However, as there is no mention of gifts, it is not possible to score this category.

About this property

Oystercatcher is a bright and airy bungalow positioned in the quaint village of Drummore, Scottish Lowlands; it is the most southerly village in Scotland! This two-bedroom property enjoys partial sea-views and is just paces away from fantastic beaches and amenities. It is family and pet-friendly, so bring along your loved ones and leave your vehicle in the off-road parking space. Step inside to the entrance hallway, where you can kick off your sandy shoes, ready to explore the scenic surroundings. Locate the navy blue kitchen, fitted with the amenities you need to make simple yet satisfying meals; it has an electric oven, five burner induction hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, and a coffee maker for a frothy coffee in the morning.

From here, follow onto the living/dining room, a space that blends seamlessly together living and dining; it has a four-seater dining table, a plush sofa, and a Smart TV for when you want to veg out. Watch the sunset from the enclosed, rear garden with a cold beverage in hand whilst your furry friend sprawls out on the lawn. As the evening winds to a close, retire inside and wash the day away in the bathroom with either a soak amongst the bubbles in the bath or a quick shower. When sleep calls, there are two bedrooms, with a light grey décor, so you can choose between a super-king-size and a twin bedroom.

A short stroll will lead you to Drummore Bay Beach; here you will find clear water and a great selection of wildlife and afterwards you can refuel at Mariners Coffee Shop or the Ship Inn. Just a short drive south will take you to the most southerly point in Scotland, the Mull of Galloway, one of the best places in the UK to see dolphins, porpoises and sea birds. You can climb to the top of the lighthouse and take in the sights or take a stroll around the peninsula. Visit Stranraer and enjoy all the history and natural beauty that this town has to offer!

Agnew Park is a perfect place to take a stroll and relax, while the Castle of St. John and Stranraer Museum offer a fascinating look into the past. for the largest forest in the UK, venture to Galloway Forest Park, where you can spend the day exploring rich woodlands and enjoying picnics together. Don’t forget to take some spare carrots to feed the red deers! For a blend of country and coast, choose a stay at Oystercatcher. EPC Rating: Band C

Drummore is not only the largest and most southerly of all the Rhins settlements, but it is also the most southerly village in Scotland. This tranquil and beautiful fishing community, which has a Post Office, a charming port, and three local pubs, benefits from the Gulf Stream's warmth and receives less rainfall than the rest of Western Scotland, while the wind exhilarates walkers and outdoor enthusiasts alike throughout the winter months. The surrounding landscape is wild and spectacular, with views across Luce Bay to the Machars of Galloway, as well as views across the peninsula of Ireland's Antrim Hill, the Mountains of Mourne, the Cumbrian coast, and the ridge of Mona's Isle on the Isle of Man, which are all visible on a clear day.

Everything you needed was there, kitchen utensils great. Loads of storage/ coat hangers. Yes there is a house being built just opposite but no noise was heard, out through the day enjoying my holiday. Lovely bungalow would come back. Key safe number given just day before like to be more organised! Personal preference, did not like day before leaving being reminded to clean and strip beds, to keep cleaners safe! Left day early due to storm. Once again well kept, supplied bungalow

It was just a shame about the building work that was still going on from March 2023. The boiler was noisy, we switched it off on the last night. The main bedroom did seem to have a draft coming from the windows.

We rang the numbers we were given and reported this. They said that the gardener was ill,but the grass hadn,t been cut in weeks. We had the same problem with the two previous properties that we booked with you,but they did come and cut the grass.
