This is a nice big house in a lovely area. However, we had several issues with it from the start of our holiday which we listed and emailed to the owner early on. He was unable to rectify these despite saying he has a caretaker who looks after the cottage, we offered to meet them on site to discuss our problems but this was not taken up.The problems were:No welcome pack as advertised. There was no supply of logs left for us, we managed to find some in an outside store.Only 1 firelighter and very little kindling was supplied. The Gas Safety Certificate was out of date, the owner assured us he had an up to date one, that needs to be put in the cottage. The thermostat on the fridge was not working and it was far too cold. Some of our fresh food was frozen in it and had to be thrown out. There were not a lot of hangers. There were no basic foodstuffs such as salt, pepper or oil.The TVs are not Smart as advertised, they are merely Freeview. However, there was no signal on the TVs in the second bedroom or the upstairs lounge. There was no remote in the twin room. There is no smoke detector in the second bedroom. The hall key rack fell off the wall, it was only held on by 2 screws with no rawlplugs. The front of the washing machine drawer fell off. There were very few teaspoons, not enough cutlery overall for 6/8 people. There are bulbs needing replaced in the upstairs bathroom and in the hob extractor. There was no hand soap in the downstairs toilet. The kitchen and upstairs lounge clocks need new batteries. The instructions need tidying and updated e.g. there is mention of the local chip shop which burnt down a while ago.We did not realise there was a Dolce Gusto coffee machine, we could have brought pods for that from home. The online description should mention that.I realise that this is a long list but we feel that all potential users of the cottage should be aware of these issues.

A very good place to celebrate a late Christmas with our family. Comfortable, with lots of space for 6 adults. We cooked a Christmas dinner in the kitchen - although I was glad I’d brought a few baking trays and some decent knives. The utility area was a real bonus. The only downsides are the slow/ intermittent wi fi, no smart TVs and tricky parking. There is space for 1 car, but others had to drop off in the narrow street & fi ding parking a short walk away. None of this was a big issue for us - esp as the weather was dry, but others may need to know.
