Guests say

Oakwood in Aviemore is praised for its cleanliness, comfortable beds, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the spaciousness for groups and families, and the immaculate condition of the lodge and site. The location is convenient, though a car is recommended for town visits. Some minor issues include limited wardrobe space and a tight main living area for larger groups.

Guests consistently report that the property is immaculate and very clean, with fresh towels and well-maintained facilities.

The property is described as conveniently located, with easy access to Aviemore and nearby attractions. However, some guests note the need for a car to get into town, which slightly affects the score.

The reviews highlight comfortable beds and a homely feel, suitable for families and groups. The main living area is noted to be a bit tight for larger groups, which is considered in the score.

The kitchen is well stocked and the bathrooms are immaculate. However, guests mention a lack of wardrobe space and suggest that some fabrics could be refreshed. Parking can be an issue for more than two cars.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

Oakwood is spacious, clean and fitted to a very high standard - but a few fairly minor and mostly easy-to-fix omissions robbed it for us of cosiness and five star factor. The kitchen and bathrooms are modern and look expensively kitted out, while the bedrooms are decent-sized, nicely decorated and have comfortable beds. The property is one half of a building which also serves as the reception of a caravan park. We were there in early January and the site was closed but bear in mind it could be bustling outside in the summer. Be aware also that Aviemore town centre is well over a mile away, although there's a safe path for walkers.Heating is by biomass, presumably via underfloor heating. We arrived as the night-time temperature headed towards -7c. Perhaps the property had been unoccupied for a while but the ground floor was unacceptably cold. The welcome book wasn't any help. Thankfully, we discovered a trio of electric heaters in a cupboard which saved the day - and the week. The upstairs bedrooms have radiators, which coped better. The upstairs shower room, however, smelled of damp. This problem reduced over the week and may also have been related to the property being vacant. And so to the niggles alluded to above, most of them baffling.None of the bedrooms has anywhere to hang clothes. There are no hooks in any of the bathrooms for dressing gowns or towels and no radiators for drying towels. There's no way we could see to dry clothes or footwear (not even a simple drying rack) - in one of the UK's premier locations for skiing, hill walking and water sports. The smart television appears to be at least seven years old. It supports iPlayer, possibly Netflix, and that's about it as far as we could work out. The Sky TV box, meanwhile, had an eccentric and sparse selection of live TV channels. Finally, there are three lovely bathrooms and plenty of hot water but, on arrival, not a hint as far as we could see, of any hand soap. There were no replacement liners for the bins and a message querying this went unanswered.

Great option for a small group. Clean and spacious. Location required a car to get back into town.

Lovely lodge set in caravan park with lots of space for kids to run around. Easy path to walk into main town which takes around 20-30mins. Lodge itself in excellent condition. The main living area is a little tight for 8 but with 4 adults and 4 kids we were fine. Well stocked kitchen. Beds really comfy and bathrooms immaculate. We had a great time.
