Glencarron Lodge is all your Scottish holiday dreams come true. Not only is it large enough to comfortably accommodate up to 18 guests (or more in the nearby cottage), it’s surrounded by stunning Highland wilderness as far as the eye can see, and is only an hour from Inverness and easy to reach from Aberdeen and Edinburgh too. Imagine celebrating Christmas here with your extended family, or meeting up with a group of close friends to celebrate a milestone birthday. It’s ideal for any large group, including parties who want somewhere to accommodate guests who have travelled for a wedding.

Highland holidays don’t get better than at Glencarron. The spectacular estate is a 10 minute drive from Achnasheen with its quaint station and pub/hotel in a beautiful old Lodge and a 15-minute drive from Lochcarron where there are other bars and restaurants, mini-market, post office, petrol station and medical centre, but you don’t come to the Highlands to shop (unless you want tartan - Lochcarron produces top quality fabric and Lochcarron Weavers is a must-visit), you come to enjoy the breathtaking landscape, the pure air and clear loch waters, and the opportunity to shed your cares and have time to enjoy yourself with people you love. Catering can be arranged through a recommended agency.

A six mile hike or drive will take you to the foot of Bheinn Fionn and the charming village of Achnasheen. Known as the Gateway to Wester Ross, it enjoys stunning views and is also accessible by train on the line between Inverness and Kyle of Lochalsh. The seaside village of Applecross is a scenic 40-minute drive from Glencarron, and a great place for a fresh seafood lunch, as is picturesque Plockton with a choice of pubs, restaurant and sea trips. Alternatively, why not take a day trip to the Isle of Skye, the beaches of the West Coast, Inverness or Dingwall?

The Glencarron Estate has 4,000 acres of natural playground. Salmon and sea trout are plentiful and you can fly fish either on the estate’s loch or the River Carron. Clay pigeon shooting, photo stalking (a great way to experience the beauty of the Highlands up close), nature walks, mountain biking and road cycling, walking and, naturally, golf are all within easy reach, and the estate can arrange for a local stalker or ghillie to help you make the most of your time. Keen walkers will like that there are 12 Munros (peaks above 3,000 feet) within eight miles, four of which are accessed from the estate.

You could easily lose your heart to the beauty of the Scottish Highlands, especially when you stay in a place as welcoming as Glencarron Lodge.

Accommodation Comprises:

The authentic layout means that most of the living space is on the ground floor, while the bedrooms and bathrooms are on the floors above. There is one single bedroom, with pull out bed and access to its own cloakroom with WC and hand basin on the lower floor.

Downstairs:

  • One of the biggest issues about group holidays is catering for everyone. However, the kitchen at Glencarron Lodge is extremely well suited to keeping everyone fed and happy. It has a large working double, electric oven AGA, as well as a contemporary electric cooker with two ovens, microwave, and two dishwashers for quick cleaning up. Ample cupboard space and three large fridges and a freezer make it possible to easily store all your supplies, even if you're cooking three times a day for a full house.
  • The formal dining room has fantastic views across the estate and is furnished with a dining table and chairs to seat up to 20 people. It is a spacious and light filled room with original floorboards and warm colours that make it feel welcoming and cosy.
  • The drawing room is another beautiful place to relax. It has a dual aspect and enjoys lots of natural light and garden views, and with comfortable seating and a large working fireplace, it is a lovely place to sit and read or chat after a busy, fun-filled day.
  • Glencarron Lodge is well appointed to accommodate everyone's interests. There is a good sized games room and a children's TV room (one with table tennis and the other with a pool table) both are furnished with children and teenagers in mind.
  • Upstairs:

  • Glencarron Lodge has 10 further bedrooms on the two upper floors - four doubles and six twin bedrooms (please note one bedroom features zip and link beds). Two cots are also available on request. All rooms are very comfortably furnished with quality linen and cosy quilts, with all having central heating and several having original fireplaces adding to the charm. One of the double bedrooms has its own access to a family bathroom and can be used as an en suite bedroom.
  • There are six family bathrooms. Some have a large roll top bath while others have a bath and/or a shower. The house also has three cloakrooms.
  • Outside: An enclosed garden affords beautiful views of the estate and is safe for children and dogs. There is ample off-road parking.

Additional information: Efficient electric heating and WiFi throughout the property. Hive speaker for playing music from a phone or iPod and a DVD player are provided for guest entertainment. Coal and logs for the fireplace are included in the cost. Electricity is metered and charged at cost. Up to three well behaved dogs are welcome through prior agreement with the owner. Short breaks are possible outside of school holidays (3 night minimum). Depending on availability, Glencarron Lodge can be hired together with Stag Lodge on the estate. Saturday is the normal changeover day - please speak to the owner if another day is required.
