Fantastic view from picture window across Sound of Sleat, this bright and airy house enjoys a stunning setting.. From its idyllic setting in a small bay 200 yards from the shore, a complete coastal panorama can be enjoyed across the Sound of Sleat from this substantial holiday home: there are magnificent views northwards to Ben Sgritheall, Loch Hourn and Knoydart; eastwards to Loch Nevis, and southwards to Ardnamurchan Point. Beautifully appointed and extremely well-equipped (with three en-suite bathrooms), it is approached by a shared driveway, and stands in 3-acres of wild private garden with a small stream and a little glen. As well as the stunning sea views, the principal rooms offer the chance to observe an abundance of wildlife, including herons, curlews, eagles and even the occasional otter.
Delicious meals can be enjoyed at five hotels, all within 7 miles: Toravaig Hotel, Ardvasar Hotel, The Isle Ornsay Hotel, Duisdale Hotel and Kinloch Lodge Hotel, the first hotel on Skye to be awarded a Michelin Star for its astounding restaurant in 2010. Day-trips can take in the Talisker Distillery, Dunvegan Castle and Portree, whilst (via ferry) touring can be enjoyed to Eigg, Rhum, Lochalsh – and even Fort William on the scenic West Highland line. Boat trips can be taken from Elgol (an hour’s drive) to magical Loch Coruisk in the heart of the Cuillin. Very popular in recent years, the sea safari boat trip from Armadale pier (3 miles), to the Old Forge on Knoydart for lunch or dinner, or the longer trip to look at the dolphins, Minke and hump back whales (regularly seen in July and August). Walks from the most demanding on the Black Cuillin which dominates this island to gentle strolls whilst good walking can be found in the more immediate area around the cottage itself. Kyle of Lochalsh bridge 19 miles. Mallaig ferry 3 miles. Shop 3 miles..

What a wee gem! Plenty of very satisfied guests have discovered this magical cottage before us and return year upon year. Our discovery led us to re booking for next year on day three of our holiday! The only very slight negative is that the kitchen utensils were a little tired but nothing would detract from the amazing views beyond a picture frame window. A cup of tea, or something stronger perhaps) whilst sitting in the beautiful bay window instils a wonderful sense of calm. Can’t wait to return!

This was our first time at Macinnisfree Cottage, although we have been frequent visitors to Skye for many years. The first thing that hits you as you come down the driveway is the stunning view across to the mainland. We spent many hours first thing in the mornings and in the evenings watching the light change over the scene. Macinnisfree Cottage is well able to cope with larger groups with a large lounge area and more an ample dining room. As regards the number of beds choices of bedrooms again accommodating large families would be no problem. The location of the property is some distance from Broadford (although there is a shop only a couple of miles away in Armadale but for fuel and choice of provisions Broadford is the better option.Apart from the location of the property being beautiful it is very peaceful and whilst the large grassed lawn area would provide opportunities for fun for younger members of the family there is little in the way of more sophisticated activities near by for a young family beyond exploring and walking etcHoward the owner was actually in residence in an adjacent property and was a font of local knowledge and advice.

MacInnisfree is just perfect in every way. The location looking over the Sound of Sleet has to be seen to be believed. The ever changing light and colours are mesmerising. The house itself is spacious and very well equipped to make it a perfect home from home. Unfortunately we didn't see any otters, but I imagine that was because of our dog Cooper. Our main joy is walking with our dog and there are plenty lovely walks close by. Excellent food can be provided by the many restaurants and cafes within easy reach.
