Guests say

Tigh Na Caoiraich is a charming, rustic cottage set in a stunning and peaceful Highland location, ideal for walkers and nature lovers. Guests consistently praise the beautiful views, abundant wildlife, and cosy atmosphere, especially the wood burner and comfortable beds. While the cottage is well-equipped and spacious, some mention dated furnishings, occasional maintenance issues, and rare cleanliness concerns. The remote setting is a highlight for many, offering tranquillity and starry night skies. Overall, it provides an authentic Highland experience and is popular with returning guests.

Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, but there were occasional reports of mice, missed cleaning between stays, and some kitchenware not being spotless. These issues were not universal but did impact a few stays.

The location is widely praised for its beauty, remoteness, and access to walks and wildlife. Guests love the views, peacefulness, and proximity to nature, with only minor disappointment from recent tree felling affecting the immediate surroundings.

The cottage is described as cosy and warm, with comfortable beds and a spacious layout. However, several guests noted that the sofas are worn and uncomfortable, and a few mentioned dated decor and minor safety concerns.

Facilities are generally adequate, with a well-equipped kitchen, large bath, and good heating. Some guests reported issues with the cooker, lack of a microwave, missing kitchen items, and maintenance needs such as worn carpets and broken furniture.

There are no specific mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches beyond standard amenities, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

Beautiful house and incredible location with views of snowy mountains and a river out of the windows. Beds were really comfy and plenty of fire wood provided, and well stocked kitchen.Unfortunately however, the house is infested with mice. We didnt see any but there were fresh droppings in the kitchen every morning. If this is adressed it would be a 5* stay for the price, but have to rate it down due to rodent problem.

We love coming to this cottage, this is our third visit. Everything you need for a stay. Unfortunately the sofa desperately needs replaced as it is now so uncomfortable to sit on. The TV was hard to use before, but now we couldn't get it to pick up any channels, (yes we were not there to watch but would have been nice to have the choice). My girls love being in nature, lots of wildlife to see (lived seeing the frogs when we were coming back late at night. Will defiantly be back in February.

Been at this cottage three times and planning to come back. Its a dated cottage inside but we like it. Little things can be improved or replaced like the paper lanterns in the kitchen. They are old and torn and really dirty. They are also so obvious and noticable when you arrive. Also need mattress covers on the double bed in right hand bedroom. A total coat of paint is needed in kitchen and new carpets too. New sofas too or at least new cushions. If you can get past its faults then you will like it.
