Tigh Na Caoiraich is a rustic and cosy cottage praised for its stunning, peaceful location and as a perfect base for exploring the Scottish Highlands. While some guests found the cottage to be a bit dated and in need of maintenance, others appreciated its charm and the recent bathroom upgrade. The presence of wildlife and beautiful walks right from the door are noted, although recent logging activity has impacted this.
The cottage is generally described as clean, but there are mentions of mice and some kitchen items not being thoroughly clean. The presence of a loaded mouse trap suggests awareness of the issue by the owners.
The location is consistently praised for its beauty and tranquillity, with great walks and wildlife spotting opportunities, although recent logging has temporarily affected the immediate surroundings.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, especially with the log burner. However, some furniture is reported to be uncomfortable and in need of replacement.
Facilities are adequate with a well-equipped kitchen, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as outdated appliances, lack of baking trays, and a non-functioning oven. The recent addition of a new cooker is a positive change.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owners towards the guests, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

Rustic, clean, well equiped cottage which is in a beautiful part of Scotland. Cottage is a great size and great walks straight from the door. A little disappointed with the lack of wildlife but this maybe down to the recent tree felling very close to the cottage. Stayed in this area for the last 2 years in November, not far from Tigh Na Caoiraich and the pine martins, badgers and deer have always been visible.

Had booked this accommodation because of it's advertised beautiful location or so I thought. All trees next to the property had been cut down by logging company just prior to our arrival. Machines onsite from 6am most days except Sunday. Not a hint of any wildlife ( at least outside the property) no birds no dear nothing all woukd have run away from the area when logging started. To add to this we was wondering why our dog kept going Nutts in the hallway kitchen area.... turns out there were mice ( or simular) running around under the kitchen units. Owners obviously aware as I found a loaded mouse trap in the corner of the kitchen This unfortunately had such an impact on my wife we had to cut holiday short by 3 days as my wife was such a nervous wreck and woukdt go into the kitchen or downstairs bathroom. She is very frightened by rodents of any kind. The property itself I feel needs a little updating , sofas quiet uncomfortable nothing left inside cushions very dated and used. Carpet thread bear in places in front room. No microwave! Although the property is quaint and in an isolated location it seriously needs a little updating and it's a real shame about the logging work next to it it really makes it look ugly . Not at all what we had expected.

Loved our stay is this cosy and comfortable cottage. The location is absolutely stunning, and we loved having no immediate neighbours. Yes, the cottage is a little 'dated' in places and if you are looking for 5* luxury then no, it's probably not suitable for you but it was perfect for us to use as a base for exploring the surrounding area. It had everything we needed. It's obviously a much loved holiday home for the extended family it belongs to. The bath was excellent after a days munro bagging and the beds comfortable. As others have said the midges and ticks are pretty bad this year so be prepared!
