Guests say

Viking Cottage is highly praised for its stunning location, comfortable furnishings, and cleanliness. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, cosy wood burner, and the thoughtful touches like art and games. The proximity to nature and local amenities adds to the charm, although some views are now restricted due to new construction.

Guests consistently note the property as clean and fresh, with one review highlighting its immaculate condition. The high standard of cleanliness contributes positively to the overall experience.

The location is celebrated for its natural beauty and proximity to the sea, although some guests mention that the view is somewhat marred by recent construction. The area is still appreciated for its tranquillity and scenic walks.

Numerous reviews commend the cottage for its comfortable beds and homely feel. The presence of a wood burner and the property's warmth add to the comfort level experienced by guests.

The property is well-equipped with books, games, and a kitchen stocked with ample cookware. However, there are suggestions for minor improvements such as adding a lock to the bathroom and replacing the frying pan.

While guests appreciate the thoughtful touches like art and a selection of books, there is no mention of gifts, and therefore it cannot be confirmed if such gestures are customary or guaranteed.

About this property

A modern, detached holiday cottage with magnificent views over the Sound of Arisaig, in a fantastic position in the heart of the tiny coastal village of Glenuig, next door to the pub and just 100 yards from the community shop, church and village hall. The waves of the safe and sheltered sandy bay lap just a stone's throw from the garden fence of this charming holiday cottage, and the cosy accommodation, including a woodburner in the sitting room, welcomes you back after a day spent enjoying the wildlife, peace and tranquillity of the area. Local activities include walking, fishing, golf, watersports and birdwatching. Frequent sightings of wildlife include otters, deer, eagles and even the occasional porpoise. A superb cottage, the ideal spot for a restful, peaceful retreat. EPC Rating: Band D

The Sound of Arisaig is a Marine Conservation Area, which is home to Glenuig village that faces west towards the little Isles of Eigg, Muck, Rum and Canna. Maerl, which is a type of seaweed only found in unpolluted waters, and other intriguing flora and fauna can be found in this unspoilt area. Gelnuig is a tiny community with a population of just over 30, and is situated in the Parish of Moidart in remote and secluded West Lochaber, which includes the neighbouring settlements of Samalaman and Alt Ruadh. There are only 25 dwellings in the village - and four of those are holiday homes. If you're looking for a peaceful antidote to the hustle and bustle of modern living, this is it.

Cottage had everything we needed for our two week stay, and the people in the local community were so friendly and welcoming it really made our holiday.

Walkable to an amazing beach, community shop, Ardshealach Smokehouse and the pub. Most outstanding of all was the proximity to Glenuig Hall. We all went to 2 concerts and loved the whole experience.

  • Janet

We all loved our stay and the proximity to the beach. We would definitely return again.
