Guests say

Corran Shepherd’s Hut receives glowing praise for its breathtaking, remote location surrounded by wildlife and stunning scenery. Guests consistently highlight the warm hospitality of the hosts, the comfort and cleanliness of the hut, and the well-equipped facilities. The peaceful setting is perfect for relaxation and outdoor activities, with easy access to hiking and the Skye ferry. While the remoteness means amenities are a drive away and some seasonal closures occur, visitors find the experience memorable and rejuvenating.

Multiple reviews mention the hut being very clean, with fresh towels, a spotless oven, and well-prepared bedding. No negative comments about cleanliness were noted.

The location is universally described as stunning, peaceful, and surrounded by nature, with easy access to wildlife and scenic drives. The remoteness is seen as a positive, though guests note the need to plan for supplies.

Guests frequently mention the hut’s comfort, especially the cosy atmosphere and comfortable bed. The hut is warm and snug, with both electric heating and a woodburner available.

The hut is praised for being well-equipped, including a full-size fridge, good WiFi, a washing machine, and a well-stocked kitchen. Occasional power outages due to storms are mentioned but did not detract significantly from the overall experience.

Hosts are repeatedly described as exceptionally kind and attentive, going out of their way to assist guests (such as providing a hairdryer on request). While some guests appreciated thoughtful gestures, please note that specific gifts or extras are not guaranteed.

Situated in its own grounds beside a river and not far from the tidal shores of Loch Hourn, the shepherd’s hut’s home is the small village of Corran, in Arnisdale and in the shadows of the local Munro, Beinn Sgritheall. Glenelg is half an hour away along the single-track road, and it’s where you’ll find a shop, an inn, and the last running turntable ferry in the world, over the sea to Skye.

Corran is a magical little place with mountains all around as well as an iconic tea hut to visit. The famous Knoydart Peninsula is just across the loch, a boat ride away. There are hiking trails to suit everyone, with accessible Munros a walk away from the shepherd’s hut as well as easier low-level trails such as the coastal route beyond Corran. Due to its isolated position away from the modern world, the wildlife in and around the village is fantastic. You stand a good chance of spotting red deer and otters, keep an eye to the sky for eagles, and you may even spot seals and porpoises at quieter times of day out in the loch and on a rising tide. Staying at Corran Shepherd’s Hut is a perfect way to switch off from the rush of normal life. Even though there’s good Wi-Fi, staying in this remote part of the world lends itself to a digital detox. So, pack a bag of books and turn your phone off!

The attention to detail and level of comfort separates this shepherd’s hut from the competition. The decking outside is very spacious and even though the views have already been mentioned, they are truly outstanding. To be honest, the view from the hut encapsulates what everyone wants from the Scottish Highlands: mountain, loch, river, sea and an abundance of wildlife.

Corran Shepherd’s Hut is the perfect short break for 3, 4 or 5 nights. However, once you arrive, you’ll most likely wish you booked for a week. Even though you’re at the road end, and it’s an hour back to the main road, that doesn’t seem to matter, if anything it’s an advantage! The twenty-mile single-track road from Shiel Bridge to Corran is itself a dramatic introduction to Wester Ross. If you do want day trips from the hut, the Isle of Skye awaits. You can reach the misty isle via the characterful turntable ferry at Glenelg, or go the long way round on the road, which passes iconic Eilan Donan Castle.

Book Corran Shepherd’s Hut and secure yourself some memories that will last a lifetime. It’s a special place to stay in some of the best scenery Europe has to offer.

We stated in the Sheperds Hut for 2 nights. Everything was very clean, with soft towels, bed made, a fully stocked kitchen with utensils, tea towels, toilet roll, kitchen roll etc. oven was immaculate. The hut is ideal for 2 people, being similar in size to a small caravan. There's choice of electric heating or a woodburner, with heated towel rail too. Plenty of hot water, great shower too. Comfy large bed, with warm thick duvet. Good wifi. The hut is situated at the end of a twisty, turny single track road going up and down the hill. Ideal for hiking having a monro nearby. Watch out for sheep, goats and deer on the road. We took food with us for tea the first nught then ate at the Glenelg Inn (about 30 mins drive away). Yummy food, booking is essential as it was busy, even in March. Nearest shop is in Glenelg too, which was surprisingly well stocked. Would definately visit again but between April and October when more things are open, and the ferry to Skye is running.
