Cor an Easan is a traditional croft cottage, situated in a stunning location with superb sea views. This detached two storey holiday cottage is accessed via a short track in the pretty hamlet of Melness. Overlooking a superb sandy bay and surrounded by majestic mountain ranges, the cottage provides peace and tranquillity and is an ideal base from which to explore this wonderful and totally unspoilt region. The nearby village of Tongue enjoys spectacular views across the sea, with the mountains of Ben Hope and Ben Loyal in the distance. There is a slipway and harbour for small boats within a mile of the property. Horse riding is available at nearby Torrisdale sands. The area is renowned for its loch, river and sea fishing. Permits are available locally for salmon, sea trout and brown trout, and boats are also available to hire. Beach ½ mile. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

My two dogs and I stay at a lot of cottages all purporting to be of the same standard but all of which vary vastly. Before we even arrived Megan, the owner, sent a friendly email full of useful information and was most tolerant when I had a couple of questions. Cor an Easen is the perfect place to stay, the cottage has everything one needs and the WiFi was impressive for a rural area, faster than mine at home in the middle of nowhere. The garden is sheer perfection for dogs, secure and a mix of lawn for them to sprawl and play on and wilder parts for a good sniffari. Lots of excellent off lead walks in the area, obviously in areas with no livestock, though do be vigilant for ticks, my dogs particularly enjoyed the walk around the little peninsula at the ard neackie lime kilns and castle Varrich - both of which are ideal off lead walks for dogs with good recall. I can recommend the GP practice in Tongue - unfortunately a tick decided to latch itself to me in a spot I couldn’t reach hence being able to recommend the surgery. Being used to rural life I took all that was needed as shops are far and few between and who wants to waste time shopping! A previous renter had left a lot of broken glass in the dishwasher and a cupboard which took some clearing but that was not the fault of the owner. We didn’t need to use the log burner but I can imagine how snug it would be with it in use in colder weather. All in all a perfect, peaceful and relaxing place to stay with an amazing owner. I rarely return to a property but Cor an Easen is definitely one I’d consider going back to. Book it, you’ll love it!!

A great wee hideaway that has everything you need for a relaxing break…Communication was fantastic with the owner, answering our questions quickly, which was excellent… We had a brilliant holiday, weather was great, midge’s enjoyed a free meal or two… I would recommend the house to family/friends and would have no hesitation in rebooking for another break.Great value for money, book without hesitation.
