About this property

Strathpeffer 3 miles. This well-equipped, detached Strathpeffer cottage stands on the shores of beautiful Loch Achilty, in the magical Scottish Highlands. One of a small and exclusive group of holiday properties, this Strathpeffer cottage occupies a truly spectacular location, boasting beautiful loch views. This Highland cottage is ideal for a couple, a small family group or a group of friends who will embrace the outdoor adventures available on their doorstep, whilst appreciating the peaceful atmosphere. There are two comfortable bedrooms and a bright open plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen and doors leading out to the patio, an ideal place for a quiet read, or simply enjoying each other’s company whilst gazing across the water’s edge.

The pretty spa town of Strathpeffer is close by and well worth a visit, especially in the summer months when the local pipe band often offers traditional entertainment. Further afield, the Highlands are home to spectacular locations, and this Strathpeffer cottage is ideally situated to visit Skye, Plockton, Inverness and Loch Ness to mention but a few. Why not stay closer to home and explore the wonderful cycle paths, walking routes and wildlife that the area has in abundance, or spend a peaceful afternoon casting a line into the loch? A great location and a delightful Highlands cottage to be enjoyed throughout the year.

Note: This cottage is next to Refs. 904200 and 921861, together they sleep 14.

Often compared to a Bavarian Mountain resort, the picturesque spa village of Strathpeffer owes its growth to the discovery of water springs during the 1700s, and was declared in 1819 to be the healthiest drinking water in Britain! The original Spa Pavilion has been magnificently restored after a period of disuse and now serves as a venue for a variety of events, including concerts, dances, dramas and exhibitions.

It seems we are not the first this has happened to from others reviews. Also that you need to constantly buy bottled water as no fresh water to the property and nearest supermarket shop for big 5L bottles is some distance and a drive away. We weren't informed of this until after we'd already arrived and with children and a dog in tow it's an added expense/hassle. Unsure whether it was the mattress on the double bed or the bed frame itself was broken but my husband and l kept rolling into the middle in a big dip every night. It was really uncomfortable and gave us a bad back. The description and photos of the listing made it seem like we had the loch and boats literally outside the cottage and you could sit out and see it on a morning/evening when in actual fact there's a big untidy hedge/weeds in front of the cottage then the road before you can see/get over to the Loch. The grounds outside the cottage is shared alongside another cottage and also a house which was quite private but the owners dog, who was lovely and friendly, kept being let out loose to roam and trying to get into our cottage which set our own dog off barking and being protective. We had to shut our curtains and take the dog back over personally a few times. We love dogs but ours can be funny with others at times and not everyone likes dogs or wants them jumping up at them. Maybe a little more storage in the bathroom too as nowhere to hang/put towels and any toiletries really. Lots of nice walks and interesting places to visit around about, the owner and people we met were nice and friendly so no issues there and the cottage itself was clean and adequate for the purposes we needed it for as a base and to relax, we would come back again but a new bed/mattress would definitely go a long way for a decent night's sleep for future visitors.

No shelf in bathroom to put toothbrush also no place to hang towels, no place to hang up jackets, no information about heating etc no information about places to eat near by etc. Infact poor information all-round for guests should not have to keep contacting owners for information.

Lodge was well equipped and comfortable. Great to sit outside and enjoy the sun. Very well located for Inverness, Beauly and Dingwall. Owners were very friendly and helpful, gave us some good ideas for walks etc in surrounding areas.
