Guests say

Strathlene Lodge is highly praised for its stunning beachfront location, spectacular views, and excellent access to local walks and attractions. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, cosy atmosphere, and opportunities to spot seals and sunsets. While the property is generally comfortable and spacious, some guests note that the decor is dated and a few maintenance issues exist. The garden is not fully enclosed, which may be a concern for families with dogs or young children. Overall, the lodge offers a memorable and relaxing base for exploring the Moray coast.

Most guests found the property clean and tidy, with fresh bedding and towels. However, several reviews mention issues such as stained carpets, dated decor, and occasional problems with pests (woodlice), indicating that cleanliness could be improved in some areas.

The location is consistently described as outstanding, with direct beach access, beautiful views, and proximity to local amenities and walks. Guests frequently highlight the scenery, sunsets, and opportunities to see seals as major positives.

Guests generally found the lodge cosy and comfortable, with good heating and spacious rooms. However, some mention uncomfortable beds, dated furniture, and issues with the lounge seating, which affected their overall comfort.

The cottage is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and offers useful amenities such as a telescope and good internet. Some guests noted maintenance issues, such as a weak shower, very hot water, and the need for refurbishment in certain areas. The garden is large but not fully secure.

Guests appreciated thoughtful touches like a telescope in the bedroom, welcome and instruction binders, and some basic supplies to start the holiday. Please note that such gifts or extras are not guaranteed for every stay.

We enjoyed our stay, the lodge was more than adequate and very central for visiting the local places of interest and there are many in this beautiful area.We would recommend it and will return.

The Lodge has a great location, right on the sea front with amazing views out the sea and around the coast, with small beach and beautiful walks to the next village Findochty. It is well equipped and spacious, dog friendly and the garden is large with a good lawn and secure, but we did find the beds hard and uncomfortable. When we arrived we found critter traps everywhere full of wood lice and the wood lice just kept coming in every room including the bedrooms coming out of the gaps on the window frames, over the week there must have been over a hundred! This ruined the stay for us and we left a day early in the end and check into a hotel. This place could be amazing but it really needs lots of TLC!

My husband and I stayed from Saturday 29th August to 5th September 2026 in Strathlene Lodge which is in a perfect location overlooking the beach and sea. It has a secure car park and enclosed large garden. It is spacious but does need some TLC. It is clean with white bedding and lovely white fluffy towels and bath matt. The nearest supermarkets are in Buckie about 2 miles away. There is a lovely pub called the Craigenroan, Portessie about a mile along the road. The landlady and staff are lovely with friendly customers. There is a cafe/restaurant virtually on the doorstep. Lots of dog walking areas. We had lovely weather due to the micro climate of the area. We didn't see any dolphins but we did see lots of seals on the beach at Port Gordon.
