About this property

Fochabers 4.5 miles. Nestled in a stunning beachfront location in the heart of the quiet hamlet of Spey Bay near Fochabers, Moray is The Mouries. This wonderful, dog-friendly, detached holiday home benefits from a charming interior completed by three well-appointed bedrooms, off-road parking, and an enclosed rear garden as well as an idyllic setting paces away from the beach; the perfect choice for families or friends looking to explore the wonders of Scotland. Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home and head straight into the welcoming sitting room where you can unwind on the plush corner sofa and warm your feet by the woodburning stove. Later, head into the fully-equipped kitchen to help prepare dinner before dining together in the living/dining room; if the sun is shining why not dine alfresco in the rear garden where you can breathe in the sea air and raise a toast to your retreat. When the sun dips behind the horizon head back inside to wash off the day in the bathroom before choosing between three bedrooms to catch up on your sleep; there is a ground-floor double and upstairs two family rooms both fitted with a double and single bed. During the day take a short walk from the property over the sand dunes to reach the beach Spey Bay Beach where you can roam its sandy shores while admiring the breath-taking vistas across the sea, here you can also discover the Scottish Dolphin Centre, a conservation and observation hub offering unique opportunities to spot dolphins and whales in the wild, and Spey Bay Golf Club and clubhouse where you are welcome to try out a game. Find local amenities in the nearby village of Fochabers where you can stock up on your self-catering essentials at local stores or enjoy a well-earned break from the kitchen at The Gordon Arms Hotel. Follow the coast around to Lossiemouth where you can immerse yourself in the area's history at the Lossiemouth Fisheries and community museum before jumping on a boat for a trip out on the open water; a truly exceptional way to experience the unbeatable views and tranquillity the area offers. All this and more awaits at The Mouries.

East of the River Spey is where you'll find the picturesque village of Fochabers. Visitors to the village, an important stop along the Speyside Way (a long distance path from Buckie to Aviemore), can take in the beautiful buildings that dot the landscape. Located on the south side of the square, the Georgian church with the clock tower from 1798 is a particular architectural marvel. Baxters, a family-run food processing factory, has been serving the community of Mosstodloch since 1868. Along this section of Scottish coast, dolphins frequently play in the water, and ospreys can be seen fishing for their young in the nearby pine trees. A fantastic spot for some fresh air and nature.

Enclosed back garden is a good feature for children or pets. Direct access to shore from garden also a nice feature. Quiet location with easy walk to Dolphin Centre which has a cafe usually open until 4 pm and Spey Bay wildlife conservation area with trail along the river and through farmland. Wi-fi good in and around the lounge and ground floor bedroom - a little variable in rest of house. Useful welcome "pack". Would consider another stay here if occasion arises in future.
