We had a lovely three weeks at Gowanhill. It started a bit rocky as the ziplock bed was not unzipped although it was listed we needed two single beds on all the confirmation. When I called the number given there was nothing to be done until the next day. The person wasn’t overly helpful. Thankfully friends were very understanding and we managed until it could be sorted but not ideal. Gowanhill is a lovely house and suited our needs well. Kitchen fully and well equipped- once you’ve found the secret drawer! Was a bit confused about which wheelie bin to go out when as no notice about it but I just downloaded the timetable from the council website. We had a lovely time but I do have a few points which are meant to be helpful and not a criticism. 1. The heating system is too complicated - we needed to turn it down but couldn’t find a way to do it. Maybe something with only the points we needed to know would be good. 2. There were only six dining room chairs and we had 8 or 9 adults. We borrowed some from a friend who lives on the island but not sure what we might have done other wise 3. Bed linen needs a freshen up. It’s a bit well worn. We had people visiting us over the weeks and Robert was very accommodating in bringing linen to us to help either the swap overs. This was much appreciated. We had a most lovely time and would definitely return.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely setting. We were 4 generations from 4 to 76 and the cottage was perfect. My grandchildren loved the garden and the open plan accommodation is perfect for a family holiday. Loads of board games too - we’d taken our own but soon realised we hadn’t needed too. Lovely walks from the door and minutes from the beach. Arran never disappoints but this cottage certainly enhanced our stay.
