Next is the dining room, a formal space where you can enjoy the company of your loved ones over a home-cooked dish or a local takeaway, with the electric fire offering a gentle warmth. At the end of each bracing day, head up to the first floor to discover the sitting room, a cosy space where you can delve into a good book or flick through the channels of the TV, with the open fire setting the ambiance on a winter’s eve. The first floor landing also grants access to a sleek family bathroom featuring both a bath and walk-in shower and the master bedroom, boasting a double bed and its own en-suite shower room.
Concluding the interior of the cottage is another double bedroom and the family bedroom, where a plush double bed and two single beds await, this is ideal for a couple with young children. To the outside, find a two off-road parking space and access to the shared grounds, so that your canine companions can stretch their legs ahead of an action-packed day of exploring. Just a short stroll away are a number of amenities, including tearooms owned by a Bake Off finalist, coffee shops, bars and restaurants, in addition to shops for the essentials and the highly recommended Dunkeld Smoked Salmon, where you can pick up Scotland’s wild and superior smoked salmon for your home-cooked dishes!
Whilst here, be sure to visit the imposing Dunkeld Cathedral, which features the tomb of the notorious 'Wolf of Badenoch'. Meander along the River Tay for some stunning views of the famous Thomas Telford's Dunkeld Bridge, before spying the bright little houses, some of which are in the care of National Trust for Scotland. Tay Forest Park is within striking distance of the cottage, where you will find a varied patchwork of forests, featuring some of Scotland's finest views and most impressive trees, as well as walking opportunities for all ages. The Hermitage is also within easy reach, where you can follow the paths leading to the impressive Black Linn Falls, before visiting Ossian’s Hall, which was built in 1757 and since refurbished with mirrors, sliding panels and paintings.
Loch Of The Lowes nature reserve is also nearby, as is the beautiful village Birnam, famed by its mention in Shakespeare’s Macbeth and home to Dunsinane Hill, where the ancient Birnam Oak stands as the only survivor of an attack by Malcolm III on Macbeth. Bring your loved ones to Springwells to share a wonderful break in Scotland. EPC Rating: Band D
