It boasts hill walking in the Lammermuirs with the Southern Upland Way nearby. The beach at Gullane, 23 miles, is within easy reach, as are the Borders abbeys, North Berwick’s Sea Life centre and boat trips to Bass Rock to see seals and puffins. Owners are really lovely people. It was great to sit at the kitchen table & watch the horses being saddled up, or prepared for carriage practice.Oxton has a fantastic village shop, & whole place had a real sense of community - which we'll take up on our next visit. Local towns were great too - main streets with independent shops: haven't seen that where we live for years.I know it sounds odd to say, but just how curteous are the drivers? I knew when I was back in England.....We were v lucky with the weather too - sunny for 2 weeks!

Probably one of the best cottages we have stayed in. I cannot think of an improvement that could be made. There was only the two us so there was plenty of everything that we needed.

Clean and comfortable accommodation in the quiet village of Oxton. The cottage is part of small farm run by the hosts who are very helpful and friendly. Village pub and shop nearby. We would stay there again.
