Tima Lodge 3 requires a complete refurbishment. Warn/torn sofas, faded curtains, no shower attachment in one bathroom, the other shower controls not working, rusty radiators and no heating.

I visited for a four day break and would have liked to stay longer. My and my daughter stayed in the log cabin. It was very spacious there bedrooms and two bathrooms. It’s not a modern lodge, but for us it was perfect, spacious, clean, warm. And the views are spectacular.I liked the balcony and the bird feeder. Bring some bird food with you so you can enjoy watching them each morning.We loved how remote the site is, it’s miles from the nearest town which we absolutely loved for peace and quiet. It’s surrounded by hills for walking or running. It’s the perfect place to get some head space from the stress of life.I ran a lovely circular route over the hills to St Mary’s Loch. There is a lot of history in the area. And information boards in the very tiny nearby village of Etterick and over at St Mary’s Loch.You can learn about the local shepherd James Hogg. We had a day trip to Edinburgh using Staiton park and ride it took a couple of hours to get to central Edinburgh visiting Holyrood Palace was a highlight . We also enjoyed a trip to Melrose with the Abbey, lovely cafes and independent shops and Abbortsford the home of Sir William Scott.I plan to return to Angecroft it’s amazing value for money. Tips - make sure you get your food shopping Before arrival it’s quite a drive to a super market.We visited in Autumn, I did wonder if snow causes access difficulties in winter as the roads leading to the site are very rural quiet single track roads. Might be worth a chat with owners if planning a winter visit.
