Guests say

Min Y Mor is a charming cottage in Anglesey, appreciated for its quiet, picturesque location and historical significance as the former home of artist Kyffin Williams. Guests enjoy the beautiful views, peaceful setting, and the well-stocked kitchen. While some guests mention the need for maintenance and a deep clean, the character and location of the property often outweigh these concerns.

Several reviews mention issues with cleanliness, including dust, cobwebs, and a need for a deep clean. Some guests noted that crockery and cutlery required washing before use. However, not all reviews were negative, indicating inconsistency in cleanliness standards.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views, peacefulness, and proximity to the waterfront. It is considered ideal for rest, relaxation, and enjoying the natural beauty of Anglesey.

Guests find the beds and bedding comfortable, and the cottage cosy. However, some suggest improvements such as additional showers and wardrobes for hanging space, indicating room for enhancement in comfort.

The property is well-equipped, particularly the kitchen, but several reviews cite issues with maintenance, such as heating problems, non-working electrical items, and a need for general upkeep. The balance of positive and negative feedback suggests average facilities and maintenance.

Welsh cakes and references to the cottage's history show thoughtfulness. However, some guests were disappointed by the lack of basics like tea, coffee, and milk upon arrival. It should be noted that while some guests received welcome gifts, these are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

We just love Min y Mor holiday house. Located on the south east corner of Anglesey, with the waters of the Menai Strait lapping in front of you, and the mountains of Snowdonia forming an impressive backdrop, this is a magical setting. The house is quirky and contemporary, with a calm atmosphere.

The bright and welcoming kitchen/dining room is furnished with a farmhouse table which will seat up to 12. The kitchen is equipped with a range cooker (gas hob and electric oven) and a fridge.

The utility room houses an American larder fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, a sink and extra cupboard space.

Offering the most wonderful views, the sitting room is furnished with rugs on the slate floors, comfy sofas and chairs, and an electric wood burning effect stove. Features include an iPod dock, CD player, TV with DVD player and BT Vision Broadband.

Upstairs are four gorgeous bedrooms, the landing is on differing levels which might affect those with mobility issues. We love the landing, as it has a great feeling of light and space. You can sit in the window seat and watch the water race past down to the open sea. The first room has a king size bed and a small TV, and the second has a double bed.

A further two rooms have two single day beds which convert to double or twin beds, though it will be a little bit of a squeeze! Paintings adorn the walls, adding to the charm of this lovely little house.

The bathroom has a bath, loo, wash basin and towel rail. There's also a downstairs shower room with loo and wash hand basin.

With its painted wooden door, the pretty courtyard is a delight - ideal for al fresco meals. You could be anywhere in the world!

As with many of our rural properties, access is down a track, which can be rough in places.

This Grade II Listed cottage was the home of the artist Sir Kyffin Williams, whose studio was beside the house. Now completely refurbished by its new incumbent artist, Sophie Keir, it is a peaceful and relaxing sanctuary.

Enjoy sitting and watching the boats and the birds pass by. At night there is little light pollution so you can see the moon rising from behind the mountains. This is a truly idyllic spot.

The beds will be made made up as advertised, if you would like a different bed configuration please contact Menai Holidays 7 days before your arrival.

Affectionately known by the locals as Llanfair PG, the Anglesey village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrnd robwllllantysiliogogogoch, also known by its shortened name of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll has the longest place name in Europe. It was artificially named back in 1860 as a publicity stunt for the railway station and translates from Welsh as "St Mary's church in the hollow of the white hazel near to the fierce whirlpool and the church of St Tysilio of the red cave". Situated close to the Menai Straits, just off the Britannia Bridge, Llanfair PG has much to offer families. After having your photo taken next to the village nameplate at the railway station, head into the popular visitors centre for local tourist information. A short walk past the octagonal Toll House, towards Menai Bridge, will bring you to the Marquis of Anglesey statue and column which, for a small fee, you can climb the 115 steps to the top for superb views of the countryside and coastline. Nelson’s Monument can be easily reached on the banks of the Menai Straits, passing St Mary’s Church on the way. With several good pubs with restaurants, craft and gift shops and cafes, plus the beautiful Anglesey coastline within walking distance, there is plenty to entertain you all year round.

The position is superb with a constantly changing panorma outside. The whole area had a strong sense of peace generated by being so near to the water. We were all very comfortable and warm. The kitcen area was very well equipped. We know because ate in every evening except one. Thoroughly recommed the nearby farm shops providing top notch wide variety of locally sourced produce. Minor negatives - Yes the track down does have a few pot holes which really could do with repairing. A torch would have been helpful for taking the dog for short walk last thing. Already planning to book next year. Thanks to the caretaker Angharad.

This old cottage is set in a stunning location with heaps of Charm and Character throughout. All rooms were well proportioned for our group of 4 adults and are cosy and comfortable. The Kitchen/Utility was well equipped, although the range cooker could do with an internal deep clean. Upstairs the bedrooms had comfortable beds and pillows, which made for a good night’s sleeps. This old cottage overall does require some general maintenance and re-decoration – due to flaking internal walls and the wooden furniture and stair banister require a good clean. However, this did not detract from our overall enjoyment of this quaint old building and beautiful position.”

WHAT EVER IS HAPPENING TO THIS LOVELY HOUSE. We were at Min Y Mor in September 2023 and it was lovely, but it is in desperate need of some TLC Basically it was clean but some areas need attention (the person in there the week before said the same thing) the range cooker was filthy especially the fan oven, when you open the door your get hot rancid air in you face, the bottom is disgusting. Some of the trays were unusable, I left them on the table, some I had to scrub then line with foil before I could use them, the bath had a chunk of the surface missing so didn't use it in case it leaked. You could write your name in the dust on one of the lampshades. There is blown plaster in the utility room and the kitchen diner. The painted furniture needs repainting. All this is such a shame, the house is in a lovely peaceful location, if only the owners would spend some of the rent money to keep it in a acceptable state of repair and cleanliness. Some of the users of the lane need to fill in the potholes as well, some are very bad and are difficult to miss. PLEASE DON'T LET IT DETERIATE ANY MORE IT WOULD BE A TERRIBLE SHAME.
