Guests say

Cae Ocyn is a spacious, characterful cottage set in a tranquil, secluded location ideal for those seeking peace, wildlife, and a digital detox. Guests consistently praise the beautiful natural surroundings, extensive library, and abundance of games and activities. The property is well-equipped for family stays and offers a cosy, homely atmosphere. Some mention the dated décor, minor maintenance issues, and the challenging access track, but these are outweighed by the charm, privacy, and unique setting of the cottage.

Most guests found the accommodation clean and bedding of good quality, though a few noted dust, mould, and occasional missed items. Cleanliness is generally satisfactory but could benefit from more attention to detail.

The location is highly praised for its seclusion, peace, and proximity to wildlife, with easy access to Anglesey attractions. The only drawback is the rough access track, which some found challenging.

Guests appreciate the spaciousness and cosiness, but some mention soft or small beds, a wobbly bed, and dated furnishings. The house is well-heated and comfortable overall, with minor issues.

The cottage is well-equipped with games, books, and kitchen essentials, making it ideal for families and groups. Some facilities are dated or worn, and a few maintenance issues were noted, but overall provision is very good.

There are no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

We enjoyed our stay at Cae Ocyn. The house was very rustic, as expected for a cottage that age, and we enjoyed the peaceful, private surroundings. There were plenty of facilities and the kitchen had everything we needed. We enjoyed ping pong, but the dartboard was not really useable as it was just a cheap child size version, rather than a real board. We did love the card table and got lots of use out of it in the evenings. Gardens were very pretty and the views from the windows were fantastic. The only issue we had during our stay was on our final evening when a lady came in through one of the private doors to where we were sitting in the garden and asked us if we were leaving. She didn't knock, just walked in on us, and she seemed quite annoyed that we were there even after we told her we had booked until the next day. She then left without apologising for her mistake! Other than that, we enjoyed the cottage and it's surroundings.

First impressions were that the house is looking very tired. The windows are rotten and some gaps have been stuffed with tissues. There is mould in the bathroom, the toilet pipes need a good clean and the whole house is really dusty. The second double bed has a wonky leg which has been nailed on at and angle making the bed sag and the springs have gone in the master bedroom. It is such a pity because the location is good and the house could be really lovely if some sprucing up could be done. Nevertheless, we did not let this spoil our holiday and there was lots of wildlife to enjoy.
