Private parking for 3 cars. No smoking. Please note: There are 3 steps and a drop in the garden.. Mill House is a double fronted, listed, detached stone farmhouse dating from 1806. It was formerly part of the Cawdor Estate and was purchased by the current owner’s father in the 1960’s. Mill farm has been in the family’s possession (firstly as tenants and latterly as owners) for over a hundred and fifty years. The house was modernised in the 1970’s when a number of original features were either removed or covered up. Now, all of these changes have been reversed during a very careful and painstaking restoration. These have included opening up the original fireplaces, repairing the sash windows, installing a new underfloor heating system, and upstairs, exposing the original wooden floor and stairs. Holidaymakers now have the opportunity to appreciate and enjoy this wonderful historic home and relax in the comfort of its elegant surroundings.
Llandybie lies at the western base of the Black Mountains and very close to the Brecon Beacons National Park. Legend has it that caves on Llandybie’s limestone crop are the resting place of Owain Lawgoch, the sleeping warrior. Today the village of Llandybie (meaning St Tybie’s church) offers every amenity including award-winning pubs and the holiday property is conveniently situated opposite the sleepy railway station (just four trains a day!) on the Heart of Wales line, so you can leave the car behind and see places of rugged beauty, tranquil villages, impressive viaducts and picturesque Victorian spa towns dotted along one of the most scenic lines in the UK.
The lovely town of Llandeilo lies just 6 miles away and offers an array of chic shops, cafes and restaurants as well as a renowned luxury chocolatier and ice cream maker. Dinefwr Castle is also within walking distance of the town.
Other nearby places of interest include Carreg Cennen Castle, the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Aberglasney Gardens. You will be ideally situated to discover the long and sandy beaches of Carmarthenshire or the Gower Peninsula. The area has it all, castles, gardens, beaches, unique towns, varied landscapes and an overwhelming choice of outdoor activities, and The Mill Farmhouse is the perfect base from which to enjoy it. Lovely quirky cottage which has a wonderful history is situated in a quite location but has all the amenities you need very close to hand. The co op is well stocked and there is a great bakery. I would also recommend the Red Lyon Pub for a Sunday lunch which you need to pre book. Some lovely places to visit within 20 mins car journey or take the train to Swansea if you prefer a more lively day out. The journey takes about an hour. Will definitely be back

A lovely stay! Exactly what we were looking for with great communication from hosts too. Unbeatable location - the cottage is directly opposite Llandybie train station, 3 minute walk from a Co-op and 7 minute drive from a big Tesco in Ammanford. A few small things worth mentioning to those looking to book in future, none of which got in our way or affected our love of Mill Farmhouse at all! > The cottage opposite is currently having work done so there is scaffolding directly in front of the house. It doesn't extend onto Mill Farmhouse property, but I can imagine might be a shock if not expected. > As a larger guy, the beautiful old wooden floor and steps did worry me at first, but they were far sturdier than they look and we soon got used to the clasic country house squeak. Just be careful as they are a little wobbly at times. > One bedroom's wall had been recently re-plastered so was unfortunately too damp to use. We only needed 2 anyway and I'm sure will be lovely in future.
