Pendegy Mill lies within a wooded valley on the edge of the rural village of Llanybri, nestled in the Carmarthenshire countryside. Sited a convenient distance from the historic coastal village of Llansteffan, it is just half a mile from the West Wales Coastal Path. These two beautiful cottages, situated next to the owners’ home, are the perfect base to explore all that Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire have to offer. Mill Cottage was a working water mill; the mill race running into the babbling stream flowing through the beautiful grounds out to the River Taff and into the Carmarthen Bay. These two Welsh stone barns, The Granary and Mill Cottage, have been lovingly restored and offer an idyllic holiday location. They have been finished to a very good standard throughout and have been thoughtfully furnished. On the ground floor is an open plan living space which is superb for social and family gatherings. Take in the coastal air outside in the shared lawns and garden - the perfect spot to dine al fresco and enjoy a delicious meal cooked on the BBQ.
Take a trip into nearby Llansteffan for freshly brewed coffee or travel back in time with a visit to Llansteffan Castle which is steeped in history, and boasts commanding views across the estuary of the River Towy and out towards the Gower Peninsula. Travelling west, a trip to Laugharne is a must. Here you can visit the house and writing shed of famous poet Dylan Thomas, or stop for a refreshing drink and meal at one of the local pubs he would often frequent. Further along this unique coastline is the village of Pendine, which boasts 7 miles of beautiful sandy beach where the land speed record was set in the famous car, Babs. The car was excavated from the Pendine Sands and can be seen today at the Museum of Speed in the town. Within a 40-minute drive you can visit Carmarthen, the National Botanical Gardens of Wales, the famous walled seaside town of Tenby, or enjoy a day out at Wales’ largest theme park, Oakwood. Beach 2 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Pendegy Mill is in a beautiful part of Wales. The local beach at Llansteffan is lovely with easily accessible dog walking area,and tree shaded area, as well as local café and amenities. We had a very nice Sunday lunch at the Farmers Arms in Llanybri. The coast road to the west takes you to a string of beaches and small towns all the way to Tenby and beyond. Narberth is really worth a visit, super lively friendly town with lots of great shops are super little museum parks and good walks around.The cottage is well equipped, but rather dark. My only criticism of the cottage was that it needed a really good clean. Everything was slightly grubby. I suspect the owners are now using a management team who do not have the attention to detail.Wi-Fi was a real issue. We only had the Internet on about three of our seven evenings. It was a terrible tease. We thought we had it and we didn’t. There was no means of us resetting the Internet.

Location superb (but don't expect a phone signal). Very quiet. Nearest pub is at the top of a very steep, narrow tracked hill. The biggest disappointment was the lack of some basics.a) no bath mat (health & safety)b) no kitchen towel, scourers, cling film, kitchen scalesIn addition, there were no numbers on the oven controls (worn off) so you had to guess the temperature.Some of the pans provided were not usable on the induction hob - one of the frying pans and the black pan.I'm trying to be helpful here, rather than over critical. Easily fixable or visitors need to be warned to take their own 'consumables'.

Fabulous to be back in a beautiful area of Wales! Pretty cottage, very friendly owners and super dog friendly. The location and gardens are wonderful and accessible for our dogs- if you need a secure setting this isn't your place though. Our dogs loved it! Lovely welcome with bread, milk butter and Welsh cakes. Very much appreciated.Cottage is v practical but lacks a dishwasher and some furniture is quitr dated, as you often find in dog friendly places. Bathrooms are beautiful but hot water a little sparce at times. Lack of consistent fast wifi hindered our occasional work and acsess to our tv firestick.Trying to leave as honest a review as possible. We would stay again as very dog friendly but feel the place could be even better with decorating and updated furniture.
