Guests say

Cefn Isaf is a well-received cottage in North Wales, praised for its stunning views, spacious and secure garden, and peaceful rural setting. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness, ample space, and proximity to local attractions. While some noted areas for improvement, the overall sentiment is positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Most guests found the property to be spotlessly clean, though a few mentioned issues with dampness and the presence of woodlice and mould. The majority of reviews, however, reflect a high standard of cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views and peaceful countryside setting, with easy access to the coast and local attractions. The rural charm and proximity to nature are consistent highlights in guest feedback.

The property is generally considered comfortable, with a spacious living area and well-equipped kitchen. Some guests mentioned the need for more seating in the living room and issues with the stairs for those with mobility problems, but overall, the comfort level is rated highly.

Facilities are well-regarded, with a particularly well-equipped kitchen and utility room. Some guests suggested improvements such as the addition of a tumble dryer and better Wi-Fi. Maintenance issues like broken furniture and a small fridge were noted, but these were exceptions rather than the rule.

There is insufficient information in the reviews to assess the level of thoughtfulness in terms of gifts or special touches provided by the hosts. Therefore, this score cannot be accurately determined.

About this property

Abergele 5 miles. This spacious, detached holiday home is a former farmhouse, situated amongst beautiful Welsh countryside near Dolwen in the Welsh county of Conwy. Following a complete refurbishment Cefn Isaf is bright and wonderfully-furnished, and is the perfect retreat for friends, families and couples exploring North Wales. There is an abundance of parking on the driveway that wraps around half of the property, as well as a great amount of covered secure storage space for bikes, jet skis and other outdoor equipment. Inside is a large hallway and boot store, divided by a bright, colourful stained glass feature window. The sitting room overlooks the large garden with beautiful country views beyond, with a woodburning stove set inside a lovely, exposed stone fireplace. Beside it, the dining room is a great space to enjoy dinner together and plan the day over breakfast. Furnished in a contemporary Scandinavian theme, it has a dining table by the window and a second sitting area with a sofa, chair, TV and modern wall-mounted electric fire. The well-equipped modern kitchen also has a small breakfast area of its own. Upstairs are three fantastic bedrooms with lots of space and windows set in deep sills opening from the top, for that extra peace of mind for people with young children. The master bedroom has a stylish en-suite shower room with power shower, heated towel rail and the largest room of the three has a double bed and single bed for complete flexibility. There is also a bathroom on the first floor with a bath and separate shower cubicle. Outside is a large wonderful lawned garden with an incredible view of fields and rolling hills. Completely enclosed, it is a great space for the dogs and kids to run around in while you relax on the patio with a glass of wine or a bite to eat. The nearest amenities can be found in Betws-yn-Rhos 1.5 miles away, where there is a lovely pub serving food and a local village shop. The seaside resort of Colwyn Bay has a good selection of shops and places to eat, as well a lovely Blue Flag-awarded beach. Abergele also has a good selection of amenities, as well as an 18-hole golf course with a beautiful backdrop of Gwrych Castle. In addition to all this there lies Llandudno's immaculate seafront, gracefully framed by two headlands; a seaside classic with a pier, Punch and Judy, donkey rides and even Alice in Wonderland, plus modern and arty attractions for the perfect contemporary touch. Visit the World Heritage town of Conwy with its castle and town walls. For adventure seekers there is Zip World, or relax in the beauty at Bodnant Gardens. The surrounding area will keep walkers and cyclists happy, with miles of stunning scenery and of course, the Snowdonia National Park which is just half an hour away. An excellent choice for friends, families or couples exploring this friendly, picturesque area of North Wales.

The pleasant seaside town of Abergele stands on the lovely North Wales coastline and is ideally positioned between the stunning Vale of Clwyd and the lovely Conwy Valley. Renowned for the impressive Gwych Castle which overlooks the town, and its enormous sandy beach, the whole area offers safe bathing waters and excellent watersports facilities. There is also a coastal cycle path which runs along the Abergele seafront, and for walking enthusiasts, the Offa's Dyke pathway, the Clwydian Hill Range and beautiful Betws-y-Coed known as the "gateway to Snowdonia" are all nearby.

All rooms are decoarted in a lovely comfortable homely way. Really well equipped kitchen and lovely large dining room. Lovely large utility room with all equipment you need. Garden is a lovely large space and well closed off for dogs. The location is great - Only a short drive to beaches, shops and restaurants, but nowhere within walking distance. No pavements around the house either, if you walk anywhere it’s on the roads but they aren’t busy. Also very well positioned to visit snowdon, Angelsey, Betws-y-coed, Conwy and much much more.. We had a great stay at this house. My only minor negative points are that the freezer wasn’t clean and the sofas in the main living room are quite uncomfortable especially after a long day out. There are beds for 7 but only seats in the living room for 5? (We only had 5 in our family so it didn’t matter to us) There are 2 additional sofas in the dining room though! Over all, I would recommend this house. This was our second stay here. The location is fab and the setting is beautiful as is the house. Just be aware that you will have to drive everywhere.

It is in a peaceful rural location but still near to the coast & interesting places to visit. It’s a shame that there was broken furniture in the dining area; on our arrival one of the settees was turned upside down as it had a broken leg & was unusable. The table/speaker in the lounge also had a broken leg. The shower in the en-suite was poor although the main bathroom shower was okay. I also have to say that this is the first time we have ever rented holiday accommodation, where there has been absolutely nothing provided for refreshment after a 3 hour journey. Not even a pint of milk. However the garden is beautiful & there was plenty of outside furniture.

The furniture etc within the house was well below the standard we expected for the price. It wasn’t a comfortable house so we were grateful for good weather and spending most of our time in the garden!
