Minafon, Colwyn Bay, is a beautiful cottage praised for its cleanliness, stunning location, and thoughtful touches like welcome hampers. Guests enjoyed the peaceful setting and local walks, though some noted road noise and suggested minor improvements in comfort and facilities.
The cottage received high praise for its cleanliness, with multiple reviews mentioning it being 'very clean and tidy' and 'immaculate'. This suggests a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property.
The location is generally appreciated for its beauty and views, with direct access to local walks. However, some guests mentioned difficulty finding the property and proximity to a main road, which affected the tranquillity for a few.
Guests found the cottage comfortable, with a few suggesting improvements such as replacing the sofas and updating the bathroom. The presence of underfloor heating and a secure garden for dogs were positives.
The property is well-equipped, but some guests noted the absence of an iron, ironing board, and a cafetière large enough for two. The maintenance of facilities like the non-slip shower mat was also mentioned.
The welcome hampers, including local products and dog treats, were frequently mentioned and appreciated. It should be noted that such gifts, while a lovely touch, may not be guaranteed for every stay.
Set in the rolling Bodnant Estate with magnificent views of the River Conwy and the Snowdonia mountains beyond, Minafon is a secluded barn conversion, the perfect spot for a romantic break.
Minafon is one of 10 luxury self-catering cottages on The Bodnant Estate, a strikingly beautiful agricultural estate in North Wales. Set in hilly and wooded countryside in the lower reaches of the Conwy Valley, it commands spectacular views across to Snowdonia. Stone cottages and farm buildings have been restored using traditional materials and techniques, and the Estate supports farming and encourages other rural activities. Various houses and cottages in scenic positions on the Estate are available for rent as holiday lets. Come and stay in one of them - and enjoy walking on the many miles of private woodland paths winding through the Estate.
The cottage is a beautifully simple property, restored to a high standard yet decorated in the traditional style, with exposed stone walls and wooden beams and plain white tiles in the kitchen that are the perfect foil for the sweeping views from the window. The cottage occupies an elevated position on the edge of the estate, along its own woodland track, just off the A470, so you’ll probably find yourself gazing out onto the River Conwy or the mountains of Snowdonia beyond.
The property may be simple, but there are little touches of luxury, like underfloor heating throughout, and a wood burning stove to cosy up to in the evenings. Whether you’re hankering after some relaxing seclusion or you’d like to get out and about in the beautiful countryside, Minafon is your ideal base.
There are a number of other properties available to book at the Bodnant Estate; Ty Newydd, sleeping eight guests, Ty Cerrig, sleeping seven guests, Lletty, sleeping six guests, Lletty and Annexe, sleeping eight guests, Garth Iwrch, sleeping four guests, Bryn Derw, sleeping 4 guests, Bryn Rhydd, sleeping four guests, Tydden Derwen, sleeping five guests, Ty Ucha’r Ffordd, sleeping two guests and Bryn Mawr, sleeping 7 guests.

The location and facilities were fantastic. The only reason I gave it four stars is that the outside lights weren't working, but this issue has since been rectified.

A lovely detached cottage to stay in, enclosed garden, a lovely kitchen with all the amenities you could ever need, plus dog bowls for your four legged friends. The views are amazing and it is so quiet, the road is directly below you but you canât see it or hear the traffic. There are walks straight from the door an idyllic place to stay if you want to get away from it all.
