Guests say

Bryn Derw is a well-equipped, comfortable cottage praised for its quiet, rural setting and lovely interiors. It offers a peaceful retreat with beautiful views and is ideal for walks. Some guests mentioned a delightful welcome hamper. While some issues with maintenance and amenities were noted, the charm and location generally provided a positive experience.

The majority of guests found the cottage clean and well-presented, with only a few isolated comments on cleanliness that could be improved.

The location is highly appreciated for its rural charm and proximity to local attractions. However, the approach via steep and narrow roads was a concern for some.

Guests found the cottage comfortable and warm, with some noting a need for better mattresses and furniture. The peacefulness added to the comfort for many.

While the cottage is well-equipped, there were several mentions of issues with heating, Wi-Fi, and general maintenance that suggest room for improvement.

While a gorgeous hamper was mentioned positively, there is not enough information to determine if such thoughtful gestures are consistent, so a score cannot be provided.

About this property

Bryn Derw is a delightful and secluded cottage. Nestling in woodland and overlooking a field, it is completely tranquil. The property is located in the heart of the beautiful Bodnant Estate, with easy access to the various glorious walks along private paths within the Estate.

Bryn Derw is one of 10 luxury self-catering cottages on The Bodnant Estate, a strikingly beautiful agricultural estate in North Wales. Set in hilly and wooded countryside in the lower reaches of the Conwy Valley, it commands spectacular views across to Snowdonia. Stone cottages and farm buildings have been restored using traditional materials and techniques, and the Estate supports farming and encourages other rural activities. Various houses and cottages in scenic positions on the Estate are available for rent as holiday lets. Come and stay in one of them - and enjoy walking on the many miles of private woodland paths winding through the Estate.

Delightfully restored to a very high standard and decorated in a traditional style complete with a beamed fireplace and french doors leading out to the garden. It is the perfect secluded and tranquil spot, nestled in woodland and overlooking a field.

The world famous Bodnant Garden, owned by the National Trust, is central to the Estate and within one to two miles' walking distance from the properties and open 361 days a year. The garden is famed for its laburnum arch, italianate terraces, waterfalls and national collections of plants.

Lovely clean cottage. Comfortable beds and sofas. Kitchen area is spacious. Very lovely location although no views of Snowdonia from this cottage. Tv and DVd worked just about (broken remote control ) but really need updating and would have appreciated a better selection of DVDs as there isn’t a smart TV. Would really have appreciated some bread and milk on arrival rather than biscuits and wine. WiFi is very patchy but realise this is due to the location. Be warned if taking teenagers!

Another wonderful cottage from Rural Retreats! Stunning location set in the beautiful Bodnant estate. Ideal for peacful uniterupted walks through woodland and open fields. Stunning views of the Snowdonia range and Colwyn Bay a short walk from the cottage. Lovely cottage and well equipped. Parking for one vehicle but you could squeeze another one in if required. Some minor defects at the time of our stay. - the large oven and grill didnt work and the shower leaked into the lounge area below, both reported. (We used the bath instead) Little or no internet and only patchy at best, but none of this mattered to us as we were there to get away from it all for a few days. Great log burner, well stocked with logs. Very peaceful. The only people we saw in three days were a sheep farmer and his dog and a lady walking her dog. Great farm shop nearby with a good restaurant and cafe thst does lovely breakfasts and lunches.
