While the property is generally well-received, some guests noted the fridge size is inadequate for larger groups and suggested the addition of a tumble dryer.
Guests consistently noted the property was spotless upon arrival, with very clean facilities and comfortable beds, indicating high standards of cleanliness.
The property boasts fabulous views, with easy access to the beach and local amenities, making the location highly desirable.
The property is described as spacious with ample room and comfortable beds, providing a comfortable stay for guests.
While kitchen facilities are praised, the repeated mention of an undersized fridge for a property accommodating 10 people, and the absence of a tumble dryer, suggest room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the property owner, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.
Llys Owen, built in 1887 by David Lloyd George’s in-laws, Richard and Mary Owen, has recently undergone extensive refurbishment to transform a beautiful family home into a spacious and welcoming holiday townhouse, an ideal venue for a family get-together. Built on a rise it has absolutely stunning views over Cardigan Bay and over to the mountains of Ardudwy above Harlech, all down the coastline as far south as Ceredigion. From Llys Owen you can hear the waves crashing on the beach in stormy weather, or on a quiet night gently splashing on the sand. From the large kitchen bay window overlooking the garden and lawn you can enjoy the warmth of the morning sun as you sip your first coffee of the day, watching the light changing on the faraway hills and wide sweep of the bay. The kitchen is well-equipped and the table easily sits more than 4 people – extra chairs are provided. The two front rooms are elegant and spacious, one being a dining room, again with amazing views of the sea, and of course the castle on its dramatic rocky headland. The large table sits ten, ideal for large families, hosting special occasions or corporate events, the room being furnished with an antique oak dresser, some easy chairs and a sofa. The sitting room has a luxurious deep-piled carpet, a Smart TV and a woodburning stove for when those winter nights start drawing in, with a selection of books you might want to curl up with on one of the sofas. If you aren’t drawn to the TV, then watch your own wide-screen seaside view from the window. The first floor offers three bedrooms – the two front ones both having king-size beds. The sea-blue bedroom affords you a view of the castle from bed, the rose-pink bedroom has its own en-suite with thermostatic shower, and bedside lamps with an extra light for reading in bed. The small twin bedroom faces east but like other bedrooms has blackout blinds – and a wonderful view over the garden to the sea when you wake up. The pink bathroom has some unusual features, just the place for a relaxing soak in subdued lighting. On to the back landing there’s a separate shower room, then another staircase leading up to the second floor, where from the dormer windows you have a bird’s eye view of Cricieth, down the coastline to south Wales. Here you will find a cosy twin bedroom and a large double with a beautiful en-suite bathroom, connected by a small landing with stairgate in place. Downstairs again there is a WC on the ground floor, and a small utility space with washing machine at the side door which serves as your main entrance with shelves for boots, sandals, buckets, spades. Outside at the front there is paving with garden furniture for al fresco dining, the garden is enclosed and the large lawn to the side is available as an additional area to use. At the back there is ample parking space off the back lane, and solar lighting to guide you in the dark. Ideally situated to discover all that Cricieth has to offer, with restaurants, cafes, chip shops, pubs all within short walking distances, Llys Owen awaits by the sea for your family getaway.
Often described as the 'Pearl of Wales on the shores of Snowdonia’, this delightful seaside town is situated just 5 miles from Porthmadog. The town’s 13th-century castle perches majestically on a rocky outcrop, dominating the skyline and offering superb views of Tremadog Bay and the Snowdonia mountains. Watersports enthusiasts will be delighted by the two beaches, whilst walkers and bikers are spoilt for choice by the proximity of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. Stroll along the beaches, watch porpoises playing in the surf, or relax in the various pubs, restaurants and tea rooms, sampling the famous Cadwalader’s ice cream. Further afield, attractions such as Portmeirion’s wonderful Italianate gardens, the Ffestiniog railway in Porthmadog, Harlech Castle, Caernarfon Castle and the beautiful beaches and renowned golf courses of the Llyn Peninsula are all within an easy drive.

Very clean, beds very comfortable and warm. So much room. Everything was spotless on arrival . Kitchen facilities brilliant. Cooker and hob working well. Owner got in touch about the heating but all was fine apart from the day of leaving however I wasn't going to get in touch with the owner for this, but I knew they would have helped. I have two dogs however one likes to escape. Frount garden was the only area for my two dogs,I had to place furniture to the side of the house to stop them getting through. There is another very large frount garden however this is not safe for dogs as the garden goes to the top of the fence on the main road where dogs could jump of. Apart from this it was amazing and it won't stop me booking again next year. Thanks
Stephen
We will never tire of the views over the bay and over towards Criccieth castle. The decor is very tasteful and the property has been finished to a high degree without detracting from the period features. We were a family of 8 plus a dog and felt there was ample space in this property. We definitely plan to return.

One problem is the fridge is far too small for 10 people especially if eating in, taking your own food etc and need to find room to chill the essentials like wine !!! Overall a brilliant weekend had by all and would definitely return.
