About this property

This Victorian beauty is ideal for large group self-catering in the Brecon Beacons. The 9-bedroom house sleeps up to 24 people with lots of space for socialising both indoors and outside. It's dog and family friendly and perfect for celebrating something special or catching up with family and friends. The location, within walking distance of Abergavenny train station and town centre, is perfect for a holiday as there are lots of ways to explore without needing a car. The Wye Valley, Forest of Dean, Hereford and Cardiff are all easy to reach, and there is an excellent calendar of fun events celebrating everything from the landscape to the food it produces.

Fairlea Grange is in the beautiful Welsh market town of Abergavenny, within walking distance of the train station, town centre and welcoming pubs like The Foxhunter and The Kings Arms. The house dates from the late Victorian period and retains many original features, sleeping up to 24 people in 9 well-appointed bedrooms. The house is a fantastic choice for those seeking large group accommodation close to the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Abergavenny is the perfect place for a holiday. Easy to reach by train or car, it is a thriving community with lots to offer visitors. Sit amongst the ruins of the Norman castle and admire the views of the Blorenge, shop in the historic market hall, and enjoy the sense of calm of the medieval stone walls of St Mary's Church and Priory. There is an excellent local museum in the grounds of Abergavenny Castle, a theatre, and a wealth of independent shops.

The Sugarloaf - a mountain to the north of the town - is a favourite walk for visitors and locals, providing far-reaching views over the town and surrounding area. It's also an excellent way to work up an appetite to satisfy in one of Abergavenny's many excellent cafes and pubs. Alternatively, make the most of the thrice-weekly market (Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday) to pick up some local produce, or the monthly farmers' market held on the last Thursday of each month. There are four vineyards within just a few miles, including the Sugarloaf Vineyard between Abervagenny and Crickhowell.

Whatever the season, there is always something wonderful to do during your holiday in Abergavenny. The Black Mountains are only a few miles away, with the Skirrid providing a challenge to those who enjoy walking up mountains. Alternatively, stretch your legs along the 19-mile "Three Castles" walk that takes in Grosmont, Skenfrith and Whitecastle. With the Brecon Beacons National Park on the doorstep, mountain biking is enormously popular with the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal passing through the town and lots of trails and bridleways to explore. The very popular Bike Park Wales is also within easy reach for those who love the thrill of downhill riding. Seasonal fishing is another favourite way to pass the time, while other visitors choose to sail, play golf or go horse riding. There is an excellent visitor's centre within walking distance of the house with lots of information to help you plan the perfect holiday.

Nearby places to visit include Crickhowell, Monmouth, Brecon and Hay-on-Wye as well as the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean. Trains run directly from Abergavenny to Hereford and Ludlow in the north and Cardiff to the south, making it easy to explore widely even without a car.

Whether you're in town for events like the Abergavenny Food Festival, celebrating a special event or milestone occasion, or enjoying a long-overdue catch up with friends, the high standard of accommodation and fantastic location of Fairlea Grange will delight everyone.
