"We had a wonderful family holiday (10 adults and 2 children) and stayed for the whole week. We have stayed in accommodation before where there either wasn’t enough seating for everyone to eat together or the kitchen was under-equipped. This definitely is not the case at S44628, The dining area is superb, and the kitchen is very well equipped allowing you to cook and feed the masses. It is in a beautiful setting and the owners were extremely helpful and friendly."

"What an amazing place! My friends and I had a fantastic time at S44628, such a special venue and so well equipped. From the moment we drove up the long impressive drive to the windmill we were all blown away. The owners have done a fantastic job renovating this amazing building. Great bedrooms, amazing lounge and dining room, perfect for our 40th celebrations. Lots to do in the area too, I cam highly recommend the Ancre Hill Estate for some wine tasting and Monmouth canoe hire for a trip down the river, and for a real treat have Jane White info@janewhitecatering.co.uk cook for you at the Windmill. Thank you it was epic, the fact we arrived in the middle of a heat wave too was the icing on the cake."

"We loved the situation and interesting property. However, cleanliness was not of the best, with lots of cobwebs on, e.g. the bannisters, and a nest of beetles under the bin in the kitchen. My husband and I had the double room with en suite in the tower (the lower of the two bedrooms, so on the floor above the lounge), but the shower was very small and almost impossible to move in - and we are not large people! There are only four metal chairs on the balcony, so not enough for everyone to sit out there at the same time, e.g. evening drinks. A good fun holiday, though, in a lovely area."

"This was a special occasion for my family; our 50th Wedding Anniversary. I think all 12 were captivated by the Windmill and its location. It was all well presented and the accommodation was impressive. This is the 11th Rural Retreat property that my wife and I have taken and although we have rated it 5 Star, it was soured by the lack of a welcome hamper totally inadequate for 12 guests, barely sufficient for two guests; 2 pkts bacon, 10 eggs, 1 carton fruit juice, 1 loaf of bread,3 tiny pieces of cheese, 2 pts milk, 1/2 lb butter, fruit, 2 pkts welsh cakes, one 6 inch cake, 1 bot wine, left over cereal in plastic container, coffee in cady and a few tea bags. For the price we paid and the number guests, in comparison with all our previous Snaptrip venues, this was a totally inadequate welcome hamper and almost pointless as a welcome for 12 guests; nowhere near the standards set and expected from Snaptrip. I cannot see how it can be justified. Please make this known to SnaptripMany thanksTom O'Brien"

"The accommodation and equipment was excellent but the outside could do with a coat of paint."

"So excited to stay in a windmill! Expensive but worth it. Interesting renovation. However, surprised with a couple of things - toaster was not behaving and no replacement immediately available, obvious light flickering - bulb not changed, two chipped mugs, cobwebs missed in dusting around lamps. Obviously these things should have been advised by previous occupants and perhaps they weren't. None of this detracted from a fabulous weekend away with friends."

"I booked the Windmill for my dad's surprise 70th birthday celebrations and could not have been happier. I have stayed at the Windmill before, but none of my family have and they were ALL overwhelmed; the setting is beautiful and the Windmill itself is well furnished, homely and had everything we needed for a perfect weekend away. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. We are hoping to stay again next year!"

"Property is excellent, well equipped and interesting. Surrounds great.Only one small issue was that as we had such wonderful weather we really needed some shade out by the barbque/patio area. I think a pergola with lighting would be perfect."

"S44628 is a stunning venue for a holiday. We were a group of friends staying to celebrate a 40th birthday and it is a unique, perfect and memorable place. The facilities are very high spec and generous. The building has been beautifully restored, the furnishings are very comfortable and the attention to detail is fantastic. We stayed 3 nights we used the gas BBQ the first night which was very easy to use. On the second day we visited White Castle Vineyard which is just 20 minutes away, I highly recommend a visit here, and then out for a meal in Usk at The Three Salmons in the evening, the food was absolutely delicious. The Sunday we spent in the Windmill and had a walk around the fields surrounding the property. We cannot fault our stay and we will return there one day, in fact I believe one of your group has already booked the Windmill for a family celebration next year already!"

"What a superb venue! 8 adults & 4 children loved this holiday. A striking property that doesn't disappoint on the inside. The welcome.hamper was very generous & the property had everything we needed. One warning is that sound travels throughout the building because of the nature of the property. It took the kids 2 of the 3 nights to get used to it. Solution? Book a longer stay! It's worth it!"

"Great accommodation and lovely welcome hamper. Clean and well equipped. No hot water on some days and owner sorted this out. Should be a notice beside switch that had been tampered with by previous guests which meant we had no hot water. Highly recommended"

"We spent a warm and snug Christmas at S44628 despite the appalling weather. This rural retreat has been restored to a very high standard and it was beautifully decorated for Christmas - the home made mince pies and Christmas cake provided by the owner were a lovely touch."
