About this property

Enjoying a peaceful location within established parklands, this former stable has been sympathetically restored, offering families or groups of friends the perfect countryside retreat. Set within the small hamlet of Tal-y-Coed, just 7 miles from Monmouth and 9 miles from Abergavenny, benefit from a vibrant range of local shops, restaurants, and cafes. Walkers are well served with nearby access onto the Offa’s Dyke trail, White Castle Trail and Skirrid. For keen cyclists, there is access onto the National Cycle trail nearby (route 32 and 42) along with plenty of local mountain biking opportunities. For enthusiastic golfers, The Rolls of Monmouth Golf Course is just 2 miles away. Other nearby attractions include Forest of Dean (12 miles) for ancient forests, nature reserves and high wire adventures, River Wye (8 miles) for kayaking and paddleboarding, and Brecon Beacons National Park (12 miles) for mountain climbs and rugged scenery.

Enjoy the drive along the tree lined avenue before you sweep down to the main body of the estate, passing under the archway of the Clock House. Access the property via the kitchen/dining area, a light and spacious room with tall ceilings. The kitchen offers everything you may need for preparing meals during your stay, along with a table and chairs that beckon sociable breakfasts. From the kitchen, you enter a small hallway where you can access the lounge/diner, a beautiful room with large picture windows and French doors enjoying natural light and garden views. Here you can relax in front of the wood burner, with a well-stocked bookcase providing local information and good reads. For more formal dining, there is a table and chairs suitable for four. There is also a convenient ground floor WC. The open stairwell enjoys natural light and leads to the first floor where guests have the choice of three beautifully finished bedrooms; two double bedrooms and a single bedroom. Completing the property is a bathroom with a shower over bath and WC.

Outside, to the front of the property, is an enclosed garden with seating – the perfect setting for a peaceful morning coffee. Guests are also free to explore the vast parkland on-site, however dogs must remain on a lead. If you’re bringing mountain bikes, you’ll be pleased to hear that outside storage awaits.
