About this property

Nestled in the heart of the historic market town of Monmouth in Monmouthshire is The Hame. This fabulous, Grade II listed holiday home benefits from a charming interior boasting characterful features including original doors and feature fireplaces, four beautifully-appointed bedrooms and an excellent location in the heart of the town centre and the Wye Valley Are of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the perfect choice for families or friends looking to explore the Welsh border. Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home to find a welcoming sitting room where you can unwind on either of the plush corner sofas in front of the Smart TV and gentle warmth of the electric flame-effect stove. Later, step into the fully-equipped kitchen to rustle up a hearty meal that the whole family can enjoy in the dining room with ample room for the whole family. Spend the last light of the evening, out on the private patio where you can raise a toast to your getaway before heading up the stairs to wash off the day’s adventures in the sleek bathroom. When the evening is over, slope off to sleep in one of four bedrooms; choose from a super-king-size, a ground-floor king-size, a family room with super-king-size and a triple room, all boasting handy zip/link functions. Take a short stroll into the centre of Monmouth where you can stock up on all your self-catering essentials at local stores and supermarkets or simply enjoy a break from the kitchen with food at The Club, The Punch House or The Castle Inn. The town is also home to the ruins of the riverside, Monmouth Castle and the Castle and Regimental Museum; continue the history excursion at the ruins of the 13th-century Skenfrith Castle or cross the border to tour St Briavels Castle or Goodrich Castle. The Wye Valley AONB offers outdoor enthusiasts an abundance of walking and hiking opportunities through rolling hills, dense woodlands and along the riverside. Make unforgettable memories at The Hame.

Located on the border between Wales and England and not far from the remarkable Offa's Dyke, this fascinating market town is a beautiful blend of old and new, from the ruins of an ancient castle to the bustling weekly market. The town's prime location at the meeting point of three rivers—the Wye, the Monnow, and the Trothy—makes it an ideal home base for those interested in river boating, scenic walks, and a little shopping, as well as those who simply wish to unwind by the river while watching the local rowers race and hone their craft. Besides being the birthplace of Henry V, Monmouth is also home to interesting historical sites including the Nelson Garden and a mediaeval bridge spanning the Monnow River that dates back to the 13th century (the only one of its kind in Britain). Even though it's a very small town, there's a surprising number of exciting attractions here. Short drives will take you to the historic towns of Usk, Abergavenny, and Ross-on-Wye, as well as the breath-taking landscapes of the Brecon Beacons, Forest of Dean, and Wye Valley. An ideal spot that caters to visitors of all ages.

Very clean and stalked with tea and coffee. The host was very accommodating and responded very quickly. There were some challenges around parking vehicles as there is only on road parking. Ideally it could use another bathroom downstairs but understand that it's an old building and this may not be possible.

We are a group of 9 friends who were completing the Offa’s Dyke path. The house suited our needs beautifully meaning we could all stay together including 2 dogs. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The living room, kitchen and dining room were really spacious and well equipped- 9adults could sprawl out on the comfy sofas, mill around the kitchen preparing breakfasts and sit around the great dining table. There was also a lovely enclosed yard with barbecue. Upstairs the bedrooms were great, comfy beds and flexibility of doubles and singles. You can feel the history of the house as you can with any of the buildings in Monmouth. Another plus is that you are right in the heart of town.

Spacious, well maintained, clean- it felt like a perfect home. Everything was there including appliances, linen, kitchen utensils, high chair, baby cot, kids utensils, everything. We didnt stuggle with parking either. We had 2 cars and always got space in the street. Free parking between 5pm to 9 am. 2 hours free parking between 9am to 5pm, and that was plenty for us. Parking was easily available in nearby streets as well. Enjoyed the barbeque outside. Television, Wi-Fi- all great. Above all, the house owner was very helpful at all times. She answered all questions quickly and clearly. Definitely recommended.
