About this property

Relax in the beauty of the Welsh countryside in this big group holiday let in the Wye Valley. The Manor on the Monnow sits in two private acres of ground and fronts on to the River Wye at Monmouth, sleeping up to 24 people in 11 bedrooms. The centre of the historic town with its pubs, cafes and shops is a gentle 10-minute stroll, while the Wye Valley AONB, Forest of Dean and Brecon Beacons National Park are also close. The property manages to be both impressive and homely at the same time, and is ideal for groups of extended families and friends.

The Manor on the Monnow is a rare find. The group holiday let is built in the Baroque style and occupies an enviable position on the bank of the Monnow River and only a ten minute walk from the centre of Monmouth with it’s array of independent shops, pubs and eateries. It's perfect for extended family gatherings, special occasions, milestone celebrations or just getting the gang together because it's been far too long since you've all seen each other. The house comfortably accommodates up to 24 people in 11 bedrooms with loads of space for socialising and entertaining both indoors and outside.

Monmouth is a fantastic choice for a holiday destination. The town has a long and illustrious history and is not only the birthplace of King Henry V but is also the site of Monmouth Bridge - built in 1272 and the only remaining fortified bridge in Great Britain. Monmouth has two supermarkets and a good choice of independent cafes and shops. Locals strongly recommend a scoop or two of gelato from Green and Jenks on Agincourt Square, whose striped awning is easy to recognise. Monmouth has several excellent local museums including the Nelson Museum and Local History Centre, which has a superb collection of memorabilia of Lord Horatio Nelson, and the Monmouth Castle and Military Museum.

Once you've explored Monmouth, you can head over the river to where the beautiful Wye Valley begins, with miles of footpaths and cycling routes. The Forest of Dean is also close, with lots of family-friendly trails. Another option is the traffic-free Monnow Trail which you can access from the gate without having even to cross a single road.

Other local attractions include Puzzlewood, which is one of Britain's genuinely ancient forests, Clearwell Caves, Symonds Yat, White Castle, Chepstow Castle and Tintern Abbey. Abergavenny, Brecon, Hay-on-Wye and the Brecon Beacons are all within easy reach, as are Hereford, Gloucester and Cheltenham.

You don't need to think twice when a big self-catering property this good is available. You can find out more about the house and check availability on the owner's website.
