Overall, Ty Afon offers a warm, inviting base for exploring the beautiful Welsh countryside.

Most guests found the cottage very clean and well-presented, with spotless bathrooms and kitchens frequently mentioned. A small number of reviews noted minor issues such as cobwebs, window cleanliness, or needing to rewash cookware, but these were exceptions rather than the norm.

The cottage is very well-equipped, with a fully stocked kitchen, modern bathrooms, and useful extras like stairgates and utility rooms. A few guests noted minor maintenance needs (e.g., old hairdryer, worn pans, broken washing line), but these did not detract significantly from the overall experience.

Many guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as welcome packs with cake, milk, butter, and juice, as well as dog-friendly provisions. Please note that these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

Mixed family party from 3 years to 75 years.Lovely area, Talybont village really lovely, easy to get to with allocated parking for 1 car but plenty of on road parking for additional cars.Village shop/post office well stocked, if a little pricey for some items. Village cafe seemed popular and menu varied, and although we didn’t eat there we saw some of the food and it looked really good.Canal side walks lovely, Talybont Reservoir is worth a visit - a lovely couple of hours spent walking but the real treat was visiting the waterfalls at Talybont Forest - had a lovely swim and even though the weather was glorious, it was quiet and very beautiful! We were a little disappointed with the overall cleanliness of the property - Outside of windows very dirty, UPVC sills and frames full of cobwebs and general dirt both at the front and back.Lots of cobwebs behind beds and some items from previous guests found under bed.Lots of recycling from previous visitors still at the property, went to put some food in the bin and the bag was open and lots of flies in the bin.Rotary washing line broken and no apparent way to put into ground anyway.Very grubby inside of general waste bin.Lots of cookware had to be washed before we could use them as very greasy.Beds very comfortable, showers really good and very nice to sink into the lovely striped sofa at the end of the day. My particular favourite was the small room off the lounge which I shall always remember as my library as I went into that room every evening for an hour with a drink and my book and had some time to myself - it was very quiet and the armchair very comfortable indeed. As the river was so close, if you kept your bedroom window open throughout the night you would swear that you could hear rain - but no, it was the river just babbling along! It was magical and very relaxing and peaceful. The fruit trees in the garden were amazing and we spent many an hour just watching the wildlife eating the fruit - I didn’t know that bumblebees could grow that big!Just a few little gripes but all in all - a lovely property with the potential to be amazing!!

A lovely roomy house with everything you could wish for. This was our second visit this year, we first came in the beginning of February and loved it so much that we wanted to visit again in the summer. 3 very comfortable 1st floor bedtooms and the huge loft bedroom, 2 ensuites and a large bathroom, with 2 additional toilets on the ground floor. There is lots of ground floor living space, a very comfortable living room, a cosy snug, spacious kitchen and dining room. Having just visited in the summer the garden was well kept with a tidy lawn, various well established shrubs and large table and bench as well as a smaller secluded section in the corner with another table and chairs. The welcome pack was very genreous and much appreciated. The Star pub opposite served lovely pub grub and the garden is large with plenty of seating, but unfortunately not open in the winter. The cafe/shop/off licence is less than 2 minutes walk, this also has outside seating in the summer.A really lovely comfortable house set in a beautiful location. As we have now visited in the winter and summer, we are looking at our next visit, maybe spring or autumn in 2027.

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage. It was incredibly welcoming from the moment we arrived and felt like a real home away from home. The cottage was a lovely size, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy our stay. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped, with everything we needed for cooking and dining in, which made our stay even more comfortable. The location was beautiful and peaceful, perfect for exploring the surrounding area and enjoying the countryside. We especially appreciated how comfortable and cosy the cottage felt after a day out.Overall, a fantastic place to stay and we wouldn't hesitate to return. Highly recommended.
