Located on a campsite, this lovely wooden lodge is located in a riverside location and is ideal for guests who enjoy fishing as the property has fishing rights to the River Wye, with salmon and trout, and coarse fishing too (licence required). There are plenty of walks from the lodge and the Brecon Beacons is a 30-minute drive. Guests are welcome to bring kayaks and canoes to use on the nearby river (October-March). The Royal Welsh Showground is only 5 miles and there is a great golf course 4 miles from the property in Builth Wells. The Elan Valley is a 30-minute drive where you will find many walking and cycling trails and an abundance of wildlife. Red kites are found in the Elan Valley and there is a feeding station nearby. Edw Lodge is also on the National Cycle Network and offers plenty of lanes and hills for those interested in mountain biking. Builth wells offers a cinema, golf course, swimming pool and plenty of shops and restaurants. Edw Lodge is in the perfect place to relax and listen to the wildlife and the river flowing by whilst sitting in the private hot tub watching the sun go down. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Adam was very helpful when I got lost on my way to the lodge originally. When we arrived, the lodge was tidy and in acceptable condition. I did however find a small piece of beef jerky under one of the beds and empty sweet wrappers behind the TV. There were some smudges on the wall and some of the window/door mechanisms were stiff. The lodge itself came with a lovely welcome pack and a leaflet on local attractions. Once we settled in, we found the WiFi was not working. We rung Adam at about 8pm and he said he would send his IT guy round the next day to fix it. We went out for the day and upon our arrival, the IT guy was finishing up. The WiFi was sorted. We then used the hot tub which was lovely. We all slept well in comfy beds and showered with clean towels. We really liked the fact that there were two fridges for all our food & drink. We found the TV a bit outdated and slow responding but it had Sky, a DVD player and some family board games to keep us entertained. The resident cat called Smudge really made our weekend, we absolutely loved seeing him every morning. Overall, I can't fault the host at all. Every issue we made him aware of, he resolved it timeously. Hence why I am giving 5 stars.

I stayed here with 2 friends on a sort of sewing retreat. We took our machines and made quilts and clothes all weekend. For our purpose, this lodge was perfect, social living area and a big table. My only gripe is that there were only 2 wine glases in the cupboard and they didnt match. If you have children I dont think there was much for them to do on the site. Other than that it was great.

Could have been 5 stars but for a couple of things, which were disappointing.First of all the location is amazing for exploring, the lodge itself is great and very comfortable with 3 decent spacious bedrooms and great views. What let it down were 1. No WiFi all week, it didn’t work at all it would flash up and disappeared and when you have a family of teenagers and have work stuff to do it was irritating and meant purchasing data packages at additional cost.2. Owner response times, first message it was over 48hrs, and had an apology that they had missed it. Didn’t get a response to the my message I sent on the Tuesday and we left on the Friday.3. There is a walk to the local pub (which is amazing) we had to drive there all the times as there is one sign post at the bottom of the hill, we found a folded over sign halfway up the hill and that’s it. There is a map with a line on in the lodge but zero instructions as to where you go which you sort of need on a mile long walk over hills. Would love to know whether you ho over the locked gate? They are fields full of livestock and we didn’t want to go into the wrong fieldIt is shame as these are simple things to fix and I hope it gets sorted
