Our 3rd stay and always excellent! Two improvements: for the first time the wood supplied wasn’t seasoned and so we couldn’t enjoy a roaring open fire unfortunately. Only other feedback is that there’s a problem with the security lights which kept coming on and off all night. I would suggest turning them off when guests are present as some of us had to go and buy eye masks in order to sleep. In a dark sky area it was really disappointing and would be a deal breaker on booking again if it wasn’t sorted out.

Glanusk Lodge is a lovely house - we were a party of 10 which included people from 6 different families. The kitchen was well equipped, but we were disappointed that there was just the kitchen sink and not an additional sink in the utility room - which was spacious and had plenty of room. This would have been a great help in washing pots and pans etc. The other 'lack' in the kitchen was not having a microwave oven. We needed at certain times to reheat a small portion and it was less convenient and took longer to do on the AGA, plus produced more washing up than if we could have popped a single serving in the microwave. The dining room and lounge were lovely and we appreciated the log fire, especially it having been set before we arrived. The beds were very clean and comfortable, though for a mixed (unrelated) group such as ours extra bathroom provision would have been helpful. For example, the downstairs cloakroom was very large and could easily have accommodated a shower, while upstairs there was a bedroom which didn't have a bathroom the occupants could use without going downstairs and sharing the shower that 3 other rooms were already sharing. A few small additions would make this self-catering exceptional.
