A lovely, cosy cottage within a very well-presented farm. We were greeted by a friendly and unintrusive host and occasionally visited by a wonderfully good natured dog (Enzo) who will wander in if the door is left open, say hello to everybody for the price of a petting and then wander away. We miss Enzo! There’s no pub within an easy walking distance, although The Bull & Heifer was a few minutes’ drive and was well worth a visit, we had a lovely meal there. There’s a local store at the garage in Tregynon, but most activities, shops, coffees etc will require a 20-minute drive south to Newtown, which seems quite a bustling centre. We were only there for 2 nights, so didn’t explore all the walks, but the stroll up the hill to the east (also owned by the far) was delightful. Dogs need to be kept on a lead as there are a lot of sheep about. The views of the Welsh countryside from up there were so beautiful ❤️NB The cottage is not where Cottages.com shows it on its map (next door but one to Bethany Chapel)! For those who can use the “what3words” site, the three words you need are “regularly, crawled, leans” and that marks the entrance to the farm where Y Bwthyn sits. You can also enter “Hafod Talog Barns” into your satnav and that will take you to the right place. (NB to Cottages.com, this needs to be fixed as it caused a lot of confusion!)

Lovely peaceful location, perfect for relaxing. Host was very welcoming and cottage had everything we needed. On her suggestion we visited Gregynog Hall and Gardens, which was a nice spot for coffee and cake and very close by.
