This is a beautiful country house with spectacular views. Eighteen of us, friends rather than family, had our annual weekend get-together here and we all agreed that the situation was the best yet. The kitchen drawers and cupboards are a bit chaotic as people put things back in a different place but in a way that added to the charm. For me, the dog field was a real bonus. One of our 3 dogs is blind and deaf and she wandered around safely for ages - the most we've seen her walk for some time. Our main criticism was how squashed we were in the dining room. There are two long tables and we had nine people at each on the first night. It was so tight there was no way those of us in the middle of the two tables could move, we were literally back to back. On the second night, someone had the bright idea of pushing the two table together to make one big square where we could sit on all four sides. This worked well for us. There is a massive dresser along one wall of the dining room with very little in it - if that could be got rid of it would make meal times a lot more comfortable. There are so many rooms downstairs that it was easy to find a quiet place for a read or a phone call. Altogether, the house was a hit with our party. We were lucky to have fantastic weather for all three days and it was lovely to have outside furniture where we could gather for a pre-dinner drink and discuss how we had spent our day.
