About this property

Llys-y-Wennol is a charming stone cottage within the beautiful Gwydir Forest Park, perched above the picturesque village of Penmachno, Conwy. Boasting stunning countryside and village views, this pet-friendly retreat is the ideal choice for families or friends looking to escape to the tranquil Welsh countryside. In the morning, wake up early, make yourself a steaming cup of tea or coffee and sit outside on the front terrace. Breathe in the crisp fresh air, watch the sun rise above the village and enjoy the sound of the chirping birds and the nearby lamb. Come back inside and freshen up in the shower room before heading out on an adventure. When you come back, unwind in front of a movie on the Smart TV while your group's cook whips up a storm in the fully-equipped kitchen. Enjoy your meal around the dining table or make use of the terrace again for some alfresco dining with a glass of wine and sunset backdrop. Retreat to one of the two nicely-presented bedrooms to catch your rest when sleep calls. Venture out from the peaceful retreat of Llys-y-Wennol and explore the nearby village of Betws-y-Coed, where you can visit the Conwy Valley Railway Museum and hike through the picturesque Gwydir Forest Park with its stunning woodland and lakes. Enjoy a meal at a traditional Welsh pub or sample the cuisine at one of the area's charming eateries. For the thrill-seekers, head to Bethesda to experience the Velocity Zip Line and try out other exhilarating zip lines dotted around the National Park. Make sure to visit Llanberis, where you can ride the Llanberis Lake Railway, explore the historic Dolbadarn Castle, and take in the breathtaking views from The Heights. Your Welsh adventure awaits at Llys-y-Wennol.

The small, peaceful village of Penmachno is situated in the beautiful Machno Valley, just 4 miles from the popular town of Betws-y-Coed. Surrounded by woodland, magnificent mountains and flowing rivers, the whole area is a haven for walkers, birdwatchers, mountain bikers and climbers, whilst Betws-y-Coed itself offers a good range of shops, pubs and cafes. Here the River Conwy meets its three tributaries, creating a host of cascading waterfalls, river pools and ancient bridges throughout the surrounding countryside, the most famous of which is the magnificent waterfall at Swallow Falls, situated where the River Llugwy meets with a spectacular chasm, creating a sight not to be missed! The beautiful Conwy Falls are also well worth a visit and are situated in the Machno Valley. With all of Snowdonia to explore and North Wales' Heritage Coastlines also within easy reach, this beautiful location has plenty to offer at any time of year.

A cosy vibe overall :) just a few things worth noting - would be good if there was some soap in the bathroom and sponges in kitchen. Perhaps a few more towels. Ground floor felt a bit dirty / could do with a proper clean and mopping. Beds were super squeaky but again not a massive issue. Nothing major though, we definitely enjoyed the stay and the bench outside was a super edition - we loved having breakfasts outside in the morning.

Had everything we needed, in a lovely spot with surrounding views and of cause mr and mrs Robert’s were lovely too. Would definitely go back there if we go to that area again.
