About this property

Conwy 3 miles. Set in a quiet rural village on the outskirts of Conwy, North Wales, is this fabulous holiday home, The Old Granary. A stunning barn conversion brimming with character, this property offers everything you need for a self-catered getaway, and makes a fantastic base for exploring the Snowdonia National Park and surrounding Welsh countryside. Be charmed by the rustic, farmhouse kitchen and dining space, where you can prepare and enjoy meals with help from the AGA range cooker, before settling down by the warmth of the woodburning stove in the sitting room, where you and the family can spend valuable time together watching films on the TV or catching up on the day's events. As the evening grows darker, retire to one of three quirky bedrooms, including a master bedroom complete with king-size bed and a plethora of exposed-wood embellishments, a perfect spot to unwind after a long day. If you can tear yourself away from your tranquil base, be sure to make the short car ride to the nearby Conwy Water Gardens, as well as the National Trust landmark location of Bodnant Garden. Llandudno is accessible by car, where the Llandudno Promenade, Llandudno Pier, and the Great Orme can offer a day's worth of exercise for those feeling energetic. Beyond here, a brief drive east along the coast will bring you to Colwyn Bay, home to the Bryn Euryn Nature Reserve and Welsh Mountain Zoo, both attractions that are perfect for families. The popular village of Betws-y-Coed is located slightly further south, but is well-worth the visit, as attractions such as the Conwy Valley Railway Museum and the Pont-y-Pair Bridge provide hours of entertainment, whilst the idyllic Cyrau Viewpoint offers up breathtaking views of Snowdonia. Enjoy all of this and more by booking The Old Granary.

Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is unquestionably well-known around the world for its historical and architectural legacy, yet the centre of the town is a hive of busy activity. There are numerous specialised stores, eateries, and motels in addition to its traditional festivals and fairs, musical performances, galleries, and tourist attractions. Conwy Castle, which was constructed for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, is still regarded as one of the finest examples of mediaeval military construction. The castle's unusual, elongated shape—complete with two barbicans, eight enormous towers, and a large bow-shaped hall—was likely influenced by the castle's location on a small rocky outcrop. The Gwledd Conwy Feast, the Honey Fair, the Seed Fair, and other yearly festivals, events, and fairs, as well as other musical occasions throughout the year, are just a few of the town's many annual celebrations of its historical traditions, which it is pleased to uphold. Conwy is the ideal starting point for exploring the stunning Snowdonia National Park, strolling along undeveloped sandy beaches, or taking in the breathtaking nature right outside your door. The Llechwedd Slate Caverns, which have the longest zip line in Europe, are also close by, while Surf Snowdonia is only six miles distant.

A rustic décor with a homely feel. We had freezing weather, with snow on the mountains, but the log burner was extremely efficient and Fraser delivered wheelbarrows of logs to keep it going and ensure we were kept toasty. There were plenty of radiators to keep us warm as well. The kitchen had an Aga which was a lovely warm greeting as you came in the door and was extremely useful for drying our damp jackets and instant hotplate and oven was lovely. Really added to the rustic, cosy feeling. (there was an electric oven and hob, but we did not use it) Everything you could need was provided for and Fraser gave us some tips on some amazing walks. We can recommend Ty Groes, for eating. We walked down, a couple of times, about 30 min walk and had some lovely food, dogs are welcome too. There are no showers, which we hadn't realised, but we thoroughly enjoyed our hot baths and the hot water never ran out, even though 4 of us were taking baths every day. Very relaxing after a long walk in the cold weather. We would definitely recommend The Granary and will no doubt revisit ourselves.

Main sofa uncomfortable and needs replacing. Information pack would be helpful. Shower over the bath would be nice but got used to having a quick bath. Otherwise very quirky and lots of character in a quiet and beautiful part of the country with lots of walks and places to visit not too far away. Had a very enjoyable holiday.
