Guests say

Pantlleni is a charming, rustic cottage in North Wales, offering stunning views and tranquillity. Guests appreciate its secluded location, ideal for exploring Snowdonia and enjoying outdoor activities. The lack of connectivity is seen as a bonus by many, promoting a peaceful retreat. The property's traditional features, such as a log burner and Aga, add to its cosy atmosphere.

Cleanliness received mixed feedback. Some guests found the cottage cleaner than expected, while others noted areas needing attention, such as cobwebs and dust. The property seems to have improved over time, but there are still occasional remarks about the need for a deeper clean.

The location is highly praised for its breathtaking views and proximity to Snowdon and other attractions. The seclusion and privacy are consistently appreciated, contributing to the overall positive experience of staying in a picturesque and peaceful setting.

Comfort is generally well-regarded, with guests finding the cottage warm and the beds comfortable. However, some noted issues with heating and hot water, and a few suggested that certain furnishings could be updated for enhanced comfort.

Facilities are adequate but have room for improvement. Guests enjoy the traditional features like the log burner and Aga, but there are reports of maintenance issues such as lighting and heating. The driveway condition and accessibility are also points of concern for some visitors.

While some guests mentioned a welcome pack, there is insufficient information to determine the consistency of such gestures. Therefore, it cannot be confirmed if thoughtfulness in terms of gifts or extra touches is a regular practice at this property.

About this property

In the heart of Snowdonia, this picturesque stone holiday cottage has stunning views of the lake and mountains. Facing down the valley, it looks across Lake Gwynant to the mountains that rise from the shore. This fantastic view can be enjoyed from the fireside or the garden.

The kitchen has a Stanley range (like an Aga) to provide cooking, central heating and hot water. There is also an electric hob, a microwave and a fridge with ice box. A dining/breakfast area is to one side.

The beamed sitting room is a bright and welcoming room with polished wooden floors, bright rugs and a window seat in a deep bay where you can sit and admire the views.

There is a downstairs bathroom with an electric shower over the bath, wash basin and loo. The utility room has a washing machine.

Upstairs are two bedrooms. The double room looks across the lake and valley and the twin room has mountain views.

The garden has a sunny terrace with a barbecue and picnic table.

Please note, that typical of many remote, rural properties, access is by a rough track.

Pantlleni is very much a simplistic retreat, best suited to those who truly enjoy and appreciate the history and unique charm of traditional Welsh stone cottages. You won't find the latest mod-cons or furnishings, but if you don't mind getting back to the basic necessities you will certainly find a sense of relaxation from the peaceful surroundings of this old cottage.

Step outside and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Why not pack a picnic and while away a warm summers day by the picturesque Llyn Gwynant? You could even take a paddleboard or canoe on the lake if you're feeling particularly adventurous!

Close to Llanberis, Capel Curig and Beddgelert, Pantlleni is perfectly placed for exploring Snowdonia by car, or for walking the many footpaths that lead to the peaks and along the valley. About half an hour's drive away are the sandy beaches of Anglesey and the Llŷn Peninsula, and golf, horse riding and fishing are also close by.

The tiny hamlet of Nant Gwynant is situated in the Nant Gwynant Valley, surrounded by some of the most dramatic and beautiful scenery in the whole of the Snowdonia National Park. Overlooked by the Snowdon, Yr Aran and Moel Hebog mountains and with wonderful wooded valleys, towering rocky slopes, hidden lakes and waterfalls all providing magnificent views, this is a fantastic location for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. Enjoy climbing, walking and mountain biking, with one of the main routes for ascending Snowdon, via the famous Watkin Path, starting in the valley. Nearby is Beddgelert, regarded as one of the most attractive villages in the United Kingdom and named after the famous legend of Gelert the dog. This lovely riverside village boasts quality pubs and eating houses as well as excellent outdoor pursuit centres, offering a variety of activities. Close by are wonderful beaches, castles, National Trust properties, slate caverns, mountain railways and the Portmeirion Italianate Village.

The view out over the lake was amazing and the green space was lovely. A perfect setting to switch off from a busy life and relax. Would definitely use it again.

5mile away} pub approx 8miles away. Basic as expected but functional and comfortable Radio / cd player - as advised zero wifi / phone signal.

Back to basic yes but for dealing with the stress of our busy life’s this is perfect. The view! Unbelievable. Just 2 small things: no curtains in the bedrooms so day light at 5am isn’t great. And sadly no real safe walk from the cottage itself. You need to take the car. We didn’t fancy walking on the main narrow road with a dog. And do your shopping ahead as there isn’t really any food markets locally except the very expensive village store. Thank you for an unforgettable stay.
