Pengeulan is a well-received cottage in Machynlleth, praised for its stunning views, comfortable furnishings, and excellent location for exploring the countryside. Guests appreciate the wildlife, local amenities, and the cosy atmosphere provided by features like a log burner. While some minor issues are noted, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many expressing a desire to return.
The cottage generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness. However, a few guests mentioned it being 'cobwebby and dusty in places' and issues with readiness upon arrival. These seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.
The location is consistently lauded for its beauty, tranquillity, and convenience for exploring nearby towns and nature. The views of the River Dyfi and proximity to local shops and pubs are frequently highlighted.
Guests find the cottage comfortable, with a warm, quiet atmosphere and a well-equipped kitchen. However, there are comments about uncomfortable mattresses and a lack of waste baskets, which slightly detract from the overall comfort.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the newly upgraded bathroom and WiFi. Some guests mention the need for a larger parasol and better coffee-making facilities, indicating room for improvement.
While the reviews reflect a positive experience, there is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate a level of thoughtfulness from the owners. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

It was a bit cobwebby and dusty in places but hey you should see my house ! But it was the end of the season and I am really not complaining. A little more signage of the property may be beneficial as it was slightly difficult to find. I really could have done with a broom as our dog tended to bring bits and bobs in on her paws.we cannot express how much we loved the property and did not want to leave (we did think about changing the locks and squatting), however we took the sensible approach and booked another week in September 2025. We were in awe of the surroundings and the jets on the loop, and The Cross Foxes. Canât wait until next year .

There has been two very good improvements since our last stay which is the bathroom itâs now beautiful new shower room âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸ For that, And the WiFi another âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸ massive improvement. However the mattress had been changed in the main double bed âï¸ which I found to be extremely uncomfortable my body ached for most of the morning after getting up ! The place was very clean and tidy âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸ The parasol was very small which we had difficulty shading from the sun on the loungers could be bigger. Would I stay there again ? Only if they have a better more comfortable bed !! After all, almost a third of our time was spent sleeping in the bed

We did enjoy our stay. Just one real issue for us: the cafetiere which you can see in the photos of the kitchen is no longer there, so the espresso maker is the only way to make coffee and there is no teapot either.
