  When we arrived at the property, we let our dogs out into the "enclosed garden" only to find that it was not enclosed, and the dogs escaped through an un-gated side entrance.

  Fortunately, the maintenance team addressed this issue the next day by blocking the 3ft pathway with a pallet, which effectively resolved the problem. Thankfully, the dogs were unharmed, but the property should not be described as dog-friendly with an enclosed garden. On the surface, the property's cleanliness seemed fine. However, as we began using the facilities, it became clear that the cleanliness was not up to the expected standard. We found hairs in the kitchen drawers, tea-stained mugs, dirty pans and cutlery, crumbs in the oven, layer of grime onto of oven's extractor fan and fridge (both at eye level) and cobwebs throughout, to name some of the issues. Additionally, the upstairs area had a stale smoke odor and clearly needed a deep clean. Sykes did offer to re-clean the property during our stay, but this was halfway through our visit, which was inconvenient. We didn't want a cleaner there while our belongings were in the property, nor did we want to deal with the awkwardness of having the property re-cleaned while we were there. We also didn't want to restrict ourselves to staying at the property when we wanted to be out enjoying the Cotswolds. The property should have been properly cleaned before we arrived.

  The house was lovely and had been beautifully decorated and furnished. However the stairs were a challenge as they are very steep but short and although there was a handrail on either side it was too wide to hold onto both rails. As there was seven of us we felt that more crockery was needed plates and bowls were washed up each time , onerous when the dishwasher stopped working ! A very nice lady came from Rural retreats right away to look at the dishwasher and contacted an engineer so with advice from said engineer we got the dishwasher working. The two log burners were wonderful with a plentiful supply of logs. The garden looked lovely but the weather wasn’t conducive to sitting in the garden unfortunately. It was a great area to be in with Chipping Camden to explore and Broadway, especially Broadway Tower. We all enjoyed the four nights we had in The Gables

  Fantastic house.

  Spotlessly clean. Lovely little touches like leaving bottles of water for us. Heating was on when we arrived which was lovely but it's a warm house anyway so we turned it off in some rooms. One bedroom is downstairs and the bathroom is next to the kitchen so not ensuite but very close. The garden is big and looks beautiful but being there in November meant we didn't use it. We walked into Broadway in about 5 or 10 minutes which is absolutely beautiful. Nice little shops. Short drive to other Cotswolds towns. We went to Moreton in Marsh and had an amazing afternoon tea at Cotswolds tearoom. The street is quiet too. Recommend this house and would definitely stay here again.   We had such a brilliant stay in this home.

  We felt it was even better and more homely in person than the pictures could show. Great and spacious kitchen and living room. Close to some lovely walks and delicious cafes (including No.32 Broadway). There is an iron in the house, which isn’t listed but a great bonus as we were there for a wedding. No toiletries provided but that wasn’t listed so we knew to bring our own. Couple of mattresses were a bit soft and sinky and curtains didn’t keep out much light in the mornings but both fine for a weekend stay. Overall, we all spoke of how we loved our stay here and would definitely come back for a spring/summer trip to make use of the lovely garden and surrounding walks. Thank you!

  Wonderful, welcoming property.

  We were delighted when we arrived at the house to find a beautifully Xmas decorated home ready to accept 8 adults & a 3 month old baby. It was very clean and obviously well cared for. The space was fabulous and accommodated us all really well over a very busy Xmas time in the kitchen, dining room & lounge. The facilities are great & provided everything we needed. Very comfy beds with great nights' sleep all round. It's also in a great spot being so close to Broadway's High Street for a lovely walkabout & very handy for lots of The Cotswolds favourite spots..... Would also be great for a summer vacation.
