What our customers say about their holidays

Thank you so much!
We had a fabulous stay at Chestnut cottage. It was everything we hoped for and more. Your cottage is beautiful. It was so clean and nicely decorated, and the facilities were great. It met our needs perfectly. Thank you for the cheeky Prosecco too! The grounds are stunning- gorgeous location with the setting, but also the way the cottages are set out, with the Romany caravan and sculptures, and grassy areas, and benches outside. Nicely done. We really really didnât want to leave. The kitchen was really well supplied with everything we needed, the TV was fab and easy to use, and we loved the books and games you had too. The settees and beds were comfy, and the bathroom facilities were great. Powerful shower, and everything felt so clean and new. It was the first time weâve ever taken our doggy on holiday, and we were a bit nervous, but it honestly couldnât have been better. Thank you so much, and we will be telling everyone how wonderful your cottage is!

There are only good things to say about this property.
We stayed at the weekend for my partners 40th with our family and it was perfect. It had everything we needed. It was spotless and extremely clean and looked beautiful, even better in person. The beds and sofas were so comfy and there was plenty of room. My 1 year old loved the space to run around and was kept entertained with the huge tele in the lounge watching all her Disney favourites. The area was lovely and very quiet and was close to local shops and pubs which was really handy. We were able to have a lovely walk even though it was so cold. We've said we would definitely come back but maybe in summer when the weather is better so we can make more use of the summer house, bbq and the lovely garden. I would 100% recommend this property. Sally and David were very helpful too and were a text or phone call away if needed. Thanks for a great stay

Firstly the positives, great location with access to lots of what the Derbyshire Dales has to offer.
The place was very clean and the bathrooms clean and modern. The living room area was nice and comfortable and having 2 pubs in the village gave us a nice choice. Secondly, the negatives, the kitchen is quite small and not great when you're trying to prepare a meal for 5 adults and it could really do with a bigger fridge. The corkscrew was broken, which we didn't realise until we tried to use it which put everyone into a panic as you can imagine. The ladies thought a hairdryer would have also been a nice touch. The biggest issue for us was the single bed mattresses. These are fine I imagine if they are being used by kids but for adults with older bones they weren't very comfortable. We did have a lovely stay though and would recommend the place if you only intend to have kids in the single beds and plan to eat out most evenings. Thanks

This is a very comfortable and spacious house with a very large, fully open plan kitchen, dining area and sitting room downstairs.
The house is extremely well equipped, with a very high-spec kitchen, enormous tv, and loads of storage. The new and very substantial summer house in the garden was very useful for us as a place to play our musical instruments without bothering those in the open plan area, or, hopefully, the neighbours. The house is in a cul de sac in a modern housing estate, so if you're looking for rural or characterful, this isn't it; but the area is quiet and makes a handy base for trips into the Peak District. You can walk up a large moorland hill straight from the front door. The weather was getting colder but the house was warm, with lovely underfloor heating, and there's a very enjoyable large bath as well as excellent showers. The owner was helpful and friendly. Altogether, we had a very comfortable and pleasant week.

We left after one night.
Overwhelming smell of smoke from the broken chimney stack. White stone walls in the sitting room are grey with it. Mould spores everywhere, behind beds, corners, windows etc. Leak in utility so floor had puddles. Sheets hadnât been changed. Stained and wrinkled so called owner and told where sheets were (locked in eaves, sitting on floor with mouse traps and mould on walls). Mould in eaves wardrobe. Dirty kitchen, oven. Uncomfortable beds. Vintage one unsafe as not bolted together tightly and moves. Sofa dirty and cushions paper thin. Had shower and flooded downstairs toilet out and that was the last straw. Obviously happened before as ceilings have old water stains. Got refund for remaining 6 nights but really upsetting. Took photos and shared with Sykes. Only saving grace is the glorious location.
