What our customers say about their holidays
Dr Gibson - Verified booking
Dulcima Cottage was a warm and welcoming place to arrive to on a damp and gloomy Saturday in the week before Christmas. The cottage was spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, particularly the beds. The kitchen is well provided for (especially if you are doing 'real' self-catering), and the welcome treats of chocolate biscuits, four pints of milk (not the usual token one or two pints), and bottle of prosecco were a nice surprise. Since we were close to Christmas, it was nice to see a lit Christmas tree and some decorations making the cottage even more homely. The garden is large with many facilities, and if you have small children there is a slide, climbing frame and swings to keep them entertained. The only down side is that after driving into the property's entrance, the only realistic way to exit is to reverse onto a busy road, which is closer to the front of the property than the photo suggests. However, since the main cottage entrance is at the rear within the enclosed garden, there is no real issue for people on foot. Overall this is a good location for visiting many parts of Dorset, or just for local walks to the many nature reserves and open spaces.

This property was also on Air B&B. I can’t tell you what a relief it was to find out from the owners that the property was also registered with you. Your staff are charming efficient and helpful. My house was recently burned down and with it my passport which was required by Air B&B. It began to be a living nightmare trying to book. There was no provision for such a circumstance and no way of speaking to anyone, which is what you need in such a situation. Especially as Christmas was approaching and all the properties were getting booked. Since the fire, I no longer have the use of my family home and with my granddaughter coming from Iceland to spend Christmas with us, it was vital to secure a rental property. We had the loveliest Christmas with some family friends who own a farm only 15 minutes drive from the cottage so it was perfect. We love your agency and God forbid that you should ever be eclipsed by the problematic and dehumanised Air B&B. There is simply no comparison with the service you provide. Thank you very much.

Had the best New Year at Driftwood Cottage! Really spacious (7 adults staying), really clean, well equipped, cosy, and the owners Rosie and Greg had left us a bottle of wine and some chocolate biscuits which went down very well! The cottage itself couldn't be in a better location- a couple of minutes to the centre of Shaldon and the beach, and Shaldon itself is the perfect Devon village, really quaint but loads of pubs and cafes and of course the beach. Also walking distance over to Teignmouth (not as lovely as Shaldon but bigger and has the pier and Crazy Golf and more restaurants & bars). They had also given us some great recommendations. Everything was wonderful and would definitely come back, although only thing to note is that parking can be a little tricky as only one covered free space, although they do very helpfully list alternatives. Can't fault the cottage or Shaldon!

Absolutely wonderful week at Driftwood Cottage. The accommodation was perfect - large kitchen diner on the top floor with incredible views, my husband and I were on the middle floor with our two children (who had a bedroom each) and my Mother was on the ground floor with her own shower room and a bit of privacy! Property was very clean and had all the things you would need for a week’s stay. Loved the little touches - I’d forgotten my daughter’s bedtime books but needn’t have worried as the bookshelf full of children’s stories would’ve kept her occupied for 52 weeks. Huge choice of DVDs and Now TV was also fantastic. Shaldon is a very pretty town - enjoyed the ferry over to Teignmouth and also the local zoo. The wonderful Babbacombe Model Village was a short drive away, as was the Exe Cycle Trail. Would undoubtedly return - wonderful!

This cottage is in an ideal location for those who want to get out and about. It is within easy distance of Poole and Bournemouth and there are other good places to visit close by. We enjoyed Monkey World and Moors Valley country park. Farmer Palmers Farm is great for little ones. The property is nicely extended from the 17th Century cottage. It is however very close to the busy road and there is road noise in the rooms at the front of the property. There is a nice garden and we enjoyed using the barbecue hut to toast marshmallows one evening. The seating area in the lounge is not really suited to more than four people and this could be improved. It is a warm property but the owners did provide fans in most rooms if needed.
