The house is located just off a hilly narrow lane (the last 70m is especially narrow with a minimum width of 2.4m), perched above the coast. Drive down the winding road and admire beautiful scenery en route to Ventimiglia, just 10 minutes away by car.
Ventimiglia itself is a lively and historic town where you can discover authentic trattorias, winding medieval lanes and the famous Ventimiglia market, one of Italy’s largest. Held every Friday along the seafront, this colourful bazaar draws locals and visitors alike with stalls overflowing with leather goods, fresh produce, clothing and artisan delicacies. After browsing, stroll down to the port area for a taste of local life and perhaps rent a boat to admire the coast from the sea.
Beach lovers are spoilt for choice in this region. Ventimiglia’s pebble beaches near the port offer easy access and nearby parking, ideal for a relaxing afternoon. For something a little more special, head to Le Calandre Beach, a tucked-away spot mostly frequented by Italians, or visit Baia Beniamin Mortola and Balzi Rossi, the latter named one of Italy’s seven most spectacular beaches by Forbes (book ahead for its restaurant and sun beds).
