Guests say

Arlington Mill is a well-received holiday cottage, praised for its spaciousness, comfort, and ideal location in a beautiful part of the Cotswolds. Guests have enjoyed the property's suitability for large gatherings and its proximity to local amenities. While some minor maintenance issues were noted, the overall experience has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found the property to be spotlessly clean and well-kept, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, there were isolated comments about the patio and front entrance needing attention, which slightly impacts the overall cleanliness score.

The location is highly praised for its convenience, being close to local pubs and attractions, and situated in a delightful part of the Cotswolds. The ease of parking and the scenic village setting contribute to the high score.

Guests consistently report a high level of comfort, with ample space and en suite accommodations for large groups. The property's warmth and the quality of beds and bathrooms are noted, although some minor issues with heating and noise insulation are mentioned.

The property boasts well-equipped kitchens and comfortable living spaces. However, the score reflects concerns over maintenance issues such as non-working appliances and a complex heating system. Despite these, the facilities generally meet guests' needs.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

About this property

Dating back to the Doomsday Book, Arlington Mill is both historic and iconic and for the first time ever - you can stay in this outstanding property! Set in the heart of Bibury and with the original wheels and old machinery visually preserved but not working, guests will feel surrounded by a unique atmosphere that is rare to experience. Once upon a time this is where corn from around the Cotswolds was brought and milled for consumption - it's real history! Today, this vast building set across four floors offers wonderful self catering accommodation for up 13 guests. There are two Living Rooms, each enormous, a smart kitchen and then across the floors are five bedrooms and five bathrooms. It's immaculate in presentation and very clean and we feel an ideal place for groups to get together and relax completely. Within, literally, 2 mins walk are two pubs - each serving food so it couldn't be better for a completely relaxed weekend or holiday. The kids will love it, as the Bibury Trout Farm is next door across the river from where you can catch a fish within about 1 min of fishing! The trout farm has a decent general shop that you will find very convenient during your stay. For many reasons, this is an excellent choice for families or for friends, and for many reasons we think that you will return once you have stayed. We love it!

William Morris called Bibury ‘the most beautiful village in England” and today it is world famous as a village which best epitomises the English rural scene. At its centre is an outstanding Saxon church. So important is the village architecturally that the National Trust is closely involved in its preservation - Arlington Row, a row of weavers cottages was restored by the Trust in the 1970s and its distinctive roofline and gables are one of the most photographed scenes in the Cotswolds. The village has a selection of shops, pubs and tea rooms and a wider range of amenities are available in the nearby market town of Burford “Gateway to the Cotswolds”.

Great amenities. We had a problem with the heating and it was rectified within a couple of hours. So great service. My only gripe was the deep cleanliness. Lots of cobwebs, spiders and dead flies. These had been there a while, obviously we'd expect cobwebs and spiders etc in an old building like this, but they had been there a while. Bedrooms and bed linen and bathrooms etc were immaculate. The main area with cleanliness issues was the first floor sitting room and luckily we didn't spend too much time there. I would still give the property a 5 star review. Us 10 girls had the best time. Thank you

This caused me anxiety as it was our base for my daughter’s wedding at Cripps Barn. It wasn’t until day of our arrival that someone phoned me to say we could get in early, prior to that I did not feel reassured that we would get access. The Mill itself was perfect for our party. Plenty of room for bride to get ready etc. A comfortable, clean base, adequate facilities for rental. Did feel the initial arrival and departure time were excessive 6pm in, 10am out, which did change to 5pm in, still not great, considering amount paid. Also could have mowed the garden and provided more loo paper. Good location in a historical building/village.

Stunningly beautiful village. The accommodation was very spacious (huge!), comfortable, clean, well appointed with loads of character and interest. We used the lounge on the first floor to watch the Olympics! Beds were super comfy. As the tallest of our party - I'm 6' 1" - I had to duck under some of the beams but i didn't bang my head once! Small gripes - some en-suite bathrooms only have hand held showers, not sure why and the wet room on the top floor is a bit strange but it does work. When people are walking about on the top floor, it is pretty noisy for those in the bedrooms below. Apart from that, all very good.
