While the bathroom and some aspects of maintenance are noted as needing an upgrade, the property's cleanliness, modern kitchen, and overall comfort are praised.

I had a great week’s holiday at Bridge House. The location was my first choice for chosing this cottage as I have five generations of family members buried in the church yard in Threlkeld. So it was important to me to be close to the church yard. The cottage is a very old traditional stone cottage with its creaks and uneven floors, exposed beams and open coal fire. It’s a very Comfortable and warm cottage. Heating system is made up of electric heaters, economy seven storage heaters and a coal fire. When the coal fire is lit there is a pump to switch on that sends the hot water heated by the coal fire to the radiators upstairs. This wasn’t a problem for me as I like lighting coal fires or use logs if you prefer. If you don’t want to light the fire you can just turn the electric heaters on. The kitchen is modern and well equipped and the beds were comfortable with lovely clean bedding and lots of white thick towels. The bathroom is ok and a bit old fashioned but the shower works well and there is a heated towel rail and electric heater in the bathroom. Threlkeld is a lovely village being right by the Kilnhow Beck which is perfect to to walk your dog off the lead. The village has two pubs and a coffee shop. Buses run through the village regularly and the views of the mountains are stunning. I loved sitting looking out on to Clough Head and watch the ever changing scenery. I will definitely stay there again as if was perfect for me and my dog.

Excellent location with amazing views. Threlkeld is a lovely village and the local pub The Horse and Farrier serves decent food. The cafe at the village hall is also nice. Great location for walking. We climbed Blencathra and also walked to Keswick on the old railway track. If you just want a great location and are happy with basic accommodation the cottage fits the bill. It is adequate and reasonably equipped. However, as per previous visitor reviews I would have to agree that it needs an upgrade especially upstairs. The bathroom is very dated and grubby and the beds are not very comfortable. Downstairs the kitchen is good and the living room nice but we feel the house needs a really good clean overall. Despite this, for the price and location we still think the house is worth it and we had a great time.
