This quaint, end-of-terrace cottage rests in the heart of Braithwaite in the North of the Lake District. With some glorious walks from your doorstep, this delightful holiday cottage would appeal to families looking for an active holiday away with the tranquillity of the Lakes on hand. On entering the property, the glass banister leading upstairs creates an open feel in the lounge, complemented by two red sofas which you can sink into whilst the wall-mounted flame effect gas fire heats up the room. Allow the chef amongst the group to take advantage of the well-equipped kitchen, with a built-in electric oven and hob, integrated microwave, fridge/freezer and a dining table where all can gather to happily reflect on the holiday so far whilst digging into a delicious home-cooked meal. Head upstairs to discover two well-decorated bedrooms, including a king-size with en-suite basin and WC and a bunk room for children, serviced by a family bathroom finished in an all-white overtone. After a busy day rambling the high peaks of Skiddaw, look forward to a relaxing soak in the bath or use the overhead shower to freshen up in the morning in the family bathroom. Explore the local area by heading into the village of Braithwaite where you can find a host of amenities for your self-catered stay, with three pubs and a village shop for all your essentials. Follow the footpaths to Whilatter or Thornthwaite village for more delightful spots to explore, with the latter being home to a coffee shop, perfect for an afternoon treat, and a gallery. For the more active, climb the steep smooth flanks and grassy slopes of Skiddaw, an excellent route for those looking to extend their experience of the higher peaks, or take a neighbouring path into Porthinscale where a ramble to Derwentwater would lead you to a local jetty for a cruise on the lake. If shopping is on your agenda, head into Keswick and browse the independent stores, outdoor clothing shops and weekly markets that offer a chance to sample some local delicacies or book a table at one of the many well-established restaurants if you fancy a night off from cooking. Explore the lakes further and visit the bustling towns of Ambleside and Bowness-on-Windermere, offering a good selection of family attractions and plenty of history for all ages, including The World of Beatrix Potter, an ancient Roman fort, and many more. Choose Gable End for your next Lake District getaway.

Parking a real bonus and little garden a perfect oasis after a long walk on the surrounding hills. As it was a cold snap during our visit the fire was a great bonus when the heating wasn't required for the whole house. Only issue we had was bin day. The information said early Wednesday, but they arrived very early Tuesday, which we then missed. Can only imagine the people had the same issue the previous week as we arrived to an almost full bin. Maybe an update for this required? but this didn't detract from the enjoyment of the property. Great house, great holiday

Facilities all as advertised, clean, tidy and a perfect base for the North of the lake district. Once found (follow instructions on the wall in the kitchen) the secure car and bike storage was very handy. A must try are the homemade cakes from the village shop/tea room. Local pubs and restaurants within 5 min walking distance very handy. And we especially enjoyed being able to walk to Cat Bells from the door. We had 1 issue spoke to the housekeeper who gave us advice and was very helpful. Thankyou again for a wonderful stay and would happily stay at Gable End in the future.
