Hindscarth is a well-regarded top-floor apartment praised for its superb location in Keswick, with convenient access to local shops and stunning mountain views. Guests appreciate the cosy lounge, well-equipped kitchen, and comfortable bedrooms, though some noted the bathroom and kitchen could benefit from updates.
The property is generally found to be clean, with well-appointed living spaces. However, there were comments about the bathroom requiring extra cleaning upon arrival, which suggests room for improvement in this area.
The apartment's location is highly praised for its proximity to local amenities, including supermarkets and bus stops, as well as on-site parking, making it an ideal base for exploring the Lakes.
Guests find the bedrooms and living areas comfortable and cosy. Some issues with noise due to secondary glazing being removed and the heating system were mentioned, slightly affecting the comfort score.
While the kitchen and master bedroom are well-received, there are several mentions of the need for maintenance and updates, particularly in the bathroom and kitchen. The lack of sufficient mugs and issues with the freezer also indicate some oversight in facilities.
There is no mention of gifts or additional thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category.

Hindscarth is a second-floor apartment which has been refurbished in Nov 2025. The second bedroom has been enlarged and Hindscarth now hosts four guests. It is light and airy with beautiful views across the town to the fells from three sides. At least 15 Wainwrights are visible including Catbells, Grisedale Pike, and Skiddaw. The apartment has an air of calm and tranquillity - perhaps because of the views. Hindscarth is situated just off the main street and only minutes’ walk from the town centre with its abundance of restaurants, tea rooms, pubs and shops. With its convenient private parking space next to the building entrance what more could you ask for in this bustling and thriving lakes town. A 10-minute stroll takes you to Hope Park on the shores of beautiful Lake Derwentwater, or Fitz Park 10 minutes’ walk across the Greta has a children’s playground. Shops (Booths, Coop) are 2 minutes’ walk. Keswick nestles between imposing Skiddaw and the beautiful Derwentwater and is well known as one of the main centres of outdoor activities in the UK. For those who like that adrenalin rush or the peace of the hills, this is the perfect spot.

Hindsgarth is a perfect apartment in an excellent location next to the coop. It is the top floor appartment and felt very safe. Well equipped kitchen, fabulous master bedroom and a more than adequate single room. Cosy lounge with 2 comfy sofas, a smart TV and dining table. Nice bath and shower with hot water. It more than exceeded our expectations and would highly recommend.

Excellent location with parking and easy acces to shops, bus station etc. The sitting room and bedrooms are comfortably furnished. The single bedroom has lots of drawer space but lacks hanging space. The kitchen is basic and functional. The extra small freezer was very useful, especially as the freezer compartment in the fridge was full of ice and frozen shut. It took a few hours to defrost it. The bathroom was superficially clean on arrival but needed some extra cleaning. The lack of mugs was speedily resolved after a phone call to 'Cottages' and extra mugs were delivered soon after our arrival. It was good to read that a refurbishment of the bathroom and kitchen is planned. We have stayed here before and would come again.

I have stayed at Hindscarth several times and it is a nice flat,in good location ,with views and parking .I did note on my last stay some deterioration in basic maintenance which unfortunately continues .The sealant around the bath whilst not mouldy is heavily discoloured .The secondary glazing in both bedrooms has been taken down and left on the floor which is just bizarre but also means more road noise is evident .There are only 2 coffee mugs for a 3 bedroom flat so presumably you take it in turns to have a drink ,yes I am joking, but a basic issue to let slip The flat though has always been a good base for a walking holiday and the views alone are worth booking this flat for so I woukd recommend
