Guests say

The Barn offers a spacious, characterful retreat in a tranquil countryside setting, ideal for large groups seeking peace and relaxation. Guests praise its unique layout, ample space, and beautiful surroundings, with easy access to beaches and local attractions. The host is frequently described as welcoming and responsive. While the property is well-suited for digital detox and family gatherings, some guests noted that kitchen equipment and outdoor areas could benefit from improvement. Overall, The Barn provides a memorable rural escape with plenty of charm.

Most guests found the property clean and tidy, with only one review mentioning greasy oven tins and some maintenance issues in the kitchen. The majority of feedback is positive regarding cleanliness.

The rural, peaceful location is highly praised for its tranquillity, beautiful views, and proximity to beaches and attractions. The remoteness is a highlight for those seeking a quiet getaway, though guests note the lack of nearby shops.

Guests consistently mention the spaciousness and comfort of the property, with large bedrooms and plenty of communal space. Beds are described as comfortable, and the layout suits large groups well. Some minor issues with hot water and heating control were noted.

The property offers good amenities such as ample fridge/freezer space, dishwasher, and washing machine. However, several reviews mention the kitchen could be better equipped for large groups, and some outdoor areas and appliances (e.g., hot tub, Aga) were not fully functional.

The host is frequently described as welcoming, helpful, and responsive, with personal greetings and prompt assistance during issues. While guests appreciated the attentive service, no mention of gifts was made, so these cannot be guaranteed.

We are an adult family of 4 plus teenage grandson and found the property spacious, comfortable, warm and well equipped. Ample parking available. We particularly enjoyed the open plan kitchen / dining and living room area. The proprietor Ian was there to greet us, show us around the property, and answer any questions we had, which was a pleasant surprise and much appreciated. The Barn is set in a Tranquil location within easy reach of beautiful, quiet beaches, nature reserve, and walks. Also, magnificent Muncaster castle and grounds just down the road (well worth a visit) Whitehaven Rum story highly recommended too and the harbour is interesting. The Lakes are within easy reach. We would love to stay again.Thank you

The Barn was open-plan and pleasant in layout. We liked the location, peaceful, away from the tourist madness of the central lakes, around an hours drive to Wastwater, Coniston, Grizedale, and less to the beach. Food shop around half an hours drive in Millom. Plenty of hot water. Very disappointed with the exterior....the photo displayed on the booking site made it look far more welcoming than it avtually was. The outdoor seating area was very drab and cheerless. The garden furniture was tired, a non-functional hot-tub took half the concrete space adjacent to a large storage shed, so we felt a bit cramped by the front door with the broken paving. Not inspiring for relaxing outside, even though the weather was fantastic. The kitchen was disappointing and not well-equipped: we struggled to find enough saucepans with lids to cook for 7, the non-stick pan surfaces were scratched and not non-stick, the handle on the wok was loose, the cooking tins for the oven were left greasy in the cupboard, the extractor switches were really unpleasant as were the surrounds of the the ring controls, there were no lidded casserole-type dishes for cooking in the oven. Plenty of glasses, cutlery and crockery. Plenty of fridge and freezer space, dishwasher and washing machine. Beds were basic and reasonably comfortable. There were speakers for the sound system but we couldn't find the player.Overall, I felt the property needed some real tlc to make it feel good and worth the money.

Christmas stay with family, 10 adults and two children.Absolutely stunning barn conversion in a beautiful setting on Corney Fell. The barn was lovely and comfortable. We all slept comfortably In beds so it's ideal for families. Although being quite remote there's a lovely local pub around 30 minutes walk away serving great food and ales. We received a warm welcome from Ian (the owner) who showed us around and nothing was too much trouble for him should we have needed assistance. We would absolutely love to stay here again, thank you!
